Great book for all ages
I am from Croatia and l have been brought up reading this book, and as soon as I had my children here in England I bought this book and audio Cd for them to get familiar with it in the original Croatian edition. But so thrilled that they can now have a copy in English too!It teaches children how different animals are and how curiosity can play big part in each ones life.I always compared this book to the story of Gruffalo to my children. Even though it's written as one long rhyme it has fantastic message and my children love it.I highly recommend it and as it just made it to the theatre (the tabernacle in Nothing Hill just had one off performance yesterday) I hope audience will be even more familiar to the story of the wonderful writer Branko Copic.

Super gentle story about home being the best place in the whole wood. Useful links for outdoor learning - habitats and den building.

Great book!
Branko Ćopić wrote a unique book: my children liked the story almost as much as I did. Nice illustrations and solid translation too.

A delightful book with a powerful message
This book is a teat to read. Beautifully illustrated with an important message about how important it is to have a home. The children I bought it for loved it and so did the parents!

Exquisite reading
Any great book for children will also appeal to adults as well and this is why I recommend the Hedgehog's Home. Many of us have been looking for a story that strikes the right balance for children, simple yet not too simplistic and a way to re-discover a kind of narrative that many of us have not been able to find recently. This is not the kind of ready-made, industrial-scale format book and story that our bookstores have accustomed us to. Rather, it is a gentle yet touching tale about "home" and nature, about building one's own personality. Those of us who have a shred of familiarity with Slavic languages, will also appreciate the translation which found the right voice, rythm and imagery.
