Blown out AC capacitors are kinda common.
It darn hot in South Texas in the summer and blown out AC capacitors are kinda common due to constant running home AC at heavy loads. The AC company charges $75 just for this plus another $275 for the visit. I keep these on hand just in case. Know what your doing before you try and change in of these items. But it works very well.

Lasted 23 months. So less than $0.03/day
For how much stress we put on these systems in the gulf coast, i have yet to find a brand that lasts longer than 2 years. this one was purchased from amazon and installed 7/2024 and went kaput this weekend (6/26/2026). Compressor fan would not start. Swapped with another brand this time and will see if it can offer any more duration. That said, for $20 thats amere 2 or 3 cents per day with a moderate amount of cycling each day. easy and cheap insurance to have a couple on hand cause ac never goes out in the winter, always memorial day or july 4th! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ we also have a micro air easy start (soft start) which I firmly believe has extended the life of our hvac and allows for use on a smaller generator during storm outages. edit: im replacing this cheaper cap with a usa made national brand (A m R a d), which costs 2x as much but the last time I used worked for almost 8 years. it weighs in at 353 grams (~50% more capacity and likely better components than the cheaper vexunga cap, which weighs 229grams and barely 2 years life). time will tell. regardless having anything on hand is better than nothing.

HVAC capacitor saved me $420.00
This was so easy to install. The AC people said the capacitor was low, and they wanted $420.00 plus the capacitor. The senior tech said, "you can buy one off of Amazon and put it in yourself." Took his advice amd saved $420.00! It works perfect. Thanks Amazon for having the capacitor on your website.

Works (for 3 minutes before it blows up)
Junk. Installed it and the condenser fan started up and A/C blew cold air again! Yay!! Nay. It ran for about 3 minutes before it failed spectacularly and blew the 100 amp breaker for my whole house. Yes, it was connected properly. Hopefully it didnโt cause any greater damage. Also, it was smaller than the original and did not fit in the capacitor strap.

Tested spot-on out of box
Just what me AC needed, only time will tell about longevity but at this price having a is a good idea.

My ac died Memorial Day weekend and this saved us
Like the title says. My ac died in the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Not willing to pay the emergency service fee, looked up the parts and replaced my contactor starter capacitor and thermostat. Had to deal with wi die units in the South Carolina heat for a night, but Amazon pulled through. Now the capacitor is physically smaller but pay attention the amount of prongs in just switch over prongs for prong. Wire in the contactor Throw power and we prayed for cooling. And sure enough the cooling came through
