Besides that it's using a plastic clip, this should last a long time. I like that the rubber is just the right size and not too stretchy. If you are used to using the thin all rubber straps then you know they get warn out rather quicky, especially if you forget to take it off after a dive and it hardens while taught. This one does not have that problem, clip it once and forget it.

These have worked great for us on 3 BCDs. Nice and compact and keeps the octo in the right spot on our upper d ring. Did not come loose during the dive or rolling of the boat. It's easy to put over the mouth piece and easy enough to pull off when or if you need it.

The materials on this are a good build and not as flimsy as I was expecting for such an affordable price. The latch has a strong spring to keep the hook attached, and the swivel is a great feature. I'm only giving this 4 instead of a 5-stars because the silicone ring is smaller than I believe it should be. While it can be stretched a little bit to fit around the mouthpiece and does a good job securely holding my regulator, with consistent use I think this will put too much wear and tear on the mouthpiece and eventually cause it to rip. I plan on keeping these and using them for my alternate/emergency regulator since they do not get much use, but will have to stick with different means for my primary.

I'm not a big fan of doubling up the backup reg in a D-ring or BCD sleeve. I also wanted to reduce weight, so I wanted to reduce the number of metal bolt-snaps. This little "ring" does the trick. It's lightweight and hold my reg mouthpiece in place for easy access.

I lost my octo holder. It was one that someone gave me at a dive shop in Mexico when mine was not doing its job (coming off on every boat entry into the water). I was bereft. It was the same design as this, and so I went to purchase. These are not (oddly) widely available in dive shops. Why?? These are freaking fabulous! That said, I did have to buy and return once on another vendor because the silicone ring was too small or wasn’t stretchy enough to get around the mouthpiece. These, in this color (and I also suspect the yellow ones as well) work as they should as it appears they are a tad bigger in the picture shown for the item.

Easy to pull out, but doesn’t mistakenly slip out.
