My boy had a small quarter sized spot where the vet discovered he had demectic mange. She had me sign a waiver and said "don't worry about the meds I am going to give you to dose Hercules, the bottle will say it's one thing but it is regularly used to treat this. He will be on it for three to four months and only bring him back if he has a reaction like he is out of it otherwise rush him to the mergency room if we are closed." Yeah as if that didn't sound wrong. After I signed the waiver I read it (The desk ladies made it out to be no big deal) but I sat and read all of the possible side effects (somethings wrong if your dog is in a deep sleep that you cannot wake him up from-tremors-convulsions-there are more but those were the big ones I tossed the sheet after I refused the Ivomec) and my heart sunk. I am not going to give my boy a toxic chemical made as cattle heart worm preventative. I contacted the president to the pitbull/am staff rescue we have been adopting from (she is like my 2nd mom, no lie, we adopted from her when I was 16 and now I'm 27 and still adopting with my husband lol) She said if he had a small spot then go Holistic. Rub the goodwinol ointment all over the area and give Duralactin tabs - for some odd reason the Duralctin is a supplement for Chronic Inflammatory conditions in dogs but works for mild demodectin mange- I told my vet I did not feel comfortable giving the Ivomec to him and she got mad and said what I was doing the wrong thing and rolled her eyes at me, I told her if it didn't work of course I would be back (my rescue lady said the Ivomec is definately the route to go for bad demodectic mange and Hercules only had a small quarter sized naked spot on head.) She scheduled him a 6 week follow up. It is 4 weeks and a half and we have him on the Goodwinol ointment + Duractlin + Berte's Naturals Immune Blend Supplement for Dogs and Cats (the dogs get probiotics and prebiotics and enzymes but this has sooo much more mg IU vs the standard supps) + Raw Honey and a little bit Trader Joe's Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (antibiotic) + bathes 1-2 times a week with Virbac Aniaml Healths'' Pyoben medicated shampoo and his little hairs are growing in!! I cannot wait to show his vet! We are switching vets too by the way to a new Holistic vet who looks for natural ways to help heal and revitilize our babes. She will be shocked! Sorry it's so long

My pup has been struggling for a long time with skin issues from mid back to tail. After using a of the Goodwinol salve it has began clearing up and his hair is growing back. I’ve tried several other things that only help temporarily but Goodwinol has proved to be very effective along with a good medicated shampoo. I’m so happy for my pup and I can definitely tell a difference that he’s happier. He doesn’t seem so itchy and irritated. There wasn’t a scent that I could tell and it was smooth like peanut butter with black specks. He didn’t mind me rubbing it in his skin. I had probably bought the 1 oz container and it was not enough. I was so happy to see the bigger size and at a good price.

Have a chocolate lab with terrible skin issues. Been battling this for a long time.. Tried everything. But when I started applying Goodwinal, within a week, her hair returned and the bald spots went away. She is still itching but not nearly as bad. She is VERY allergic so it can be just the pollen on her feet when she walks outside. Not sure if she will ever be itch free, but she will never feel that level of discomfort again-thanks to this product. I would suggest you also get a food suppliment because I did this combination with great results. Dinovite,vitahound...whatever,, the food we are feeding them is virtually worthless. Sad considering that my girl has seen nothing buy PurinaOne (lamb as first ingredient) her whole life, and that stuf isn't cheap. Good food and goodwinall equals no skin or hair issues. I will have this product on hand for as long as I have a dog. I am beyond joyous that I found this product. I just wish I found it sooner-poor doggie.

This is a very old school product; its been around for years and years and that's definitely saying something.To be honest, it's a little smelly, a little goopy and fairly messy but its definitely a good part of the overall treatment of mange.I don't think it will do it alone but it will help you win the battle. We used borax & peroxide baths, sulfur dip and Goodwinol and a mixture of Neem and olive oil. Rotating all these treatments helped us completely cure our puppy of mange without the use of that nasty poison that so many vets rely on to treat it.

This works very well. I've used it on a smaller dog (around 23 #) with flea allergies, and not only dose it help hair grow back, it helps keep fleas off. You should not however use it as a flea repellant. This is a strong hair follicle healer. Test on a small area first. If a dog has a reaction do not use any more. For larger dogs I suggest you buy the 1 pound jar. DO NOT USE ON CATS! This works well on Mange, or other hair follicle problems. This is fairly greasy so massage well into the skin. Even so there will still be some greasiness. This can cause spots on furniture rugs, blankets etc... Leave outside or crated until the ointment has entered the skin and is dry.

This product does work but says not to reapply for 24 hours … It tends to stop working after about 3 hours… but for those 3 hours I do have a happy dog … as for “value for the money” … I guess if u compare it with other ointments @$25.00-$60.00/ oz yes it is but I can see buying a lot of this if ur having an ongoing issue like me.

If u have pets. Get this. Saved me an enormous vet bill. My pet had a reaction from some pet food. And had skin allergies . This stuff is magic. The coat came back beautiful. Can’t telll the skin was ever damaged.
