Bought three SCORCH heat guns, multiple SCORCH pens for a kids camp! They went wild for this craft! Absolutely loved it! A friend bought a huge stencil pack off of Amazon that had both flowers, etc. and a bunch of hunting stencils in it - something for everyone! We let 13up run the heat gun, younger campers made their stencil design and we heated it for them. Definitely recommend! We will be doing this again next year for camp!!!

First the pens have both a marker tip and a brush for larger areas. I've tried similar ones in the past that bleed all over because the formula was too thin. Love that this one is dyed purple so you can easily see where and how much you've used. A little goes a long way. You can always add more you can't easily take away.The stencils worked fine and the slabs of wood were a fun addition to practice with.The heat gun is one of the best I've ever used! That sucker heats up quickly and I actually believe the temp ratings. I've bought ones before both at the hardware store and online that don't work anywhere near as good as this or that claim higher temps that are no where near as hot as this. Again if in doubt, start on the lower temp and work up the high setting was a bit much and if you don't keep it moving you will scorch the areas you don't want scorched.I'm very impressed with this kit and look forward to doing a lot more wood burning projects!

I love this kit. It comes with everything you need to start burning wood! Instructions are easy to follow. I can’t wait to start making projects with this.

This kit was so fun to use. It was our first time using a scorch kit. My kids enjoyed using the marker to make cool designs and I used the heat gun to scorch it. It was very easy to use. The heat gun gets extremely hot very fast so be careful.

This is a great starter kit. I am new to wood burning myself and I have enjoyed playing and experimenting with the materials. The items are all high quality and packaged quite nicely- this would make an excellent gift for someone crafty.There are a few things to know that might affect how you use this kit.1. It will set off your smoke detectors. I suppose this is seems common sense seeing as it's wood BURNING, but I didn't think it would be any worse than lighting a candle. It really doesn't make a lot of smoke, but it set off my alarm within maybe 60 seconds of turning on the heat gun. Now I only use it at my workbench in the shed.2. The liquid in the pen is a more liquid gel. I had hoped that I could use it to do some freehand (without the stencils). I do think it's possible, but when I experimented on some cheaper wood cutouts I found that the gel ran up the grains in the wood. This did not happen on the wood provided in the kit. The slabs that are provided are very nice end-grain slices, while the wood cutouts are face-grain. I have not tried different types of wood, so I can't say for certain, but it seems that this might not work for projects that use face-grain wood.3. The instructions state that the stencils are "single-use". They are very nice stencils with a sticky backing. I suppose that is the reason as they will lose their stickiness with use. I do plan on using them multiple times, but I dislike single-use products. I find it wasteful and expensive. If you have a cricut machine you could create your own vinyl stencils. I have some plastic stencils that I plan to try.I think more than anything this kit makes a great gift. If you are interested in this method of wood burning this kit might work for you depending on the type of projects you want to create.

Didn’t need this for crafts but it’s multi use. For the price this is a very good intro level heat gun. I used it to remove glued on emblems from cars. The heat is consistent and can be used for long periods of time.

Ok, so let me just start off saying that this woodburning kit is the bomb. It has everything that you need to get started with wood burning, if you are just starting out and learning. You get a wood rounds that are ready to go, stencils that has different designs that you can use, 1500W heat gun, and of course the woodburning pens.The limits to what you can create are endless. I am going to be creating something very special and will post the pictures soon.
