Falling in Art 4 Inch Flat Paddle Paint Brush

Use this information for your benefit. When I took mine out of the box, before I could notice the bright Cadmium Red Medium handle, I saw "a small number" of bristles which had fallen out of the Ferrell. Before I made a conclusion, I cleaned up the bristles to see if more would fall out. 1,2,3,4. Four more fell out. All done falling out? YES. On to the test phase. Am I going to have to return it? Spank, spank, spank, hard stroke, hard stroke... no more loose bristles. And, these bristles are FIRM! I don’t mean like, "paint brush" you but at Lowes. I mean F.I.R.M. Like twice as firm as that! So, I said, "IF I’m sending it back, I’ll send it back in pieces!" So, I "tested" it. No sign of distress. No more bristles falling out. Really getting to like the handling. The bristle weight is more than the handle. I didn’t want thick and they are not! Exactly as thick as the handle but, more weight. AND, the tips are softer than the staff of the bristle. This is a high quality tool! Honestly, it's under $20 so, if I get 20 canvases in gesso and 20 washes in oil and then, I lose a bristle, value of price paid. I’m going to wash it before I use it JUST to be sure but, I'm very happy in the first 30 minutes with it.

I am a full time artist and I use these brushes everyday! I have recommended these to everyone who asks about my brushes on my art page. Great quality and so versatile.

These brushes have bristles fine enough to hold an edge, yet resilient enough to push thick paint around on rough canvas. So far I have not seen any loose bristles. I do see some bristle separation at the tips, but not enough to split the stroke as it goes on. I appreciate the holes in the handles that let you hang wet brushes with bristles draining down instead of into the ferrules My only complaint is that the very smooth brush handles are too slippery when they get wet paint on them. I had to wrap friction tape around them to keep the brushes from escaping my hand as I paint.

Soft, perfect for varnishing my oil paintings. Didn’t lose any bristles and have varnished several pieces. Just take care of your brush afterwards and you won’t run into problems

I used it 1x and the brush fell apart into pieces. I used paint on the tip not even saturating it

Great value, firm enough for light to heavy coverage, the bristles retain paint very well and it is easy to clean

I had an imperfection in the brush I received the company immediately sent a replacement. The brush bristles had a small dip in the middle that left a ridge when using it. That being said the brush is wonderful. I love the short handle and it is super soft. Perfect in every other way. Update: I have been using this brush over and over for days now and it is perfection! I love love love it! If you are looking for a paddle brush this is the one you need. It is soft yet firm enough to handle a thick Gesso it washes up perfectly and retains its shape it looks like new every time I wash it. I am so happy!

I am starting out with painting and styles of working and had seen paddle brushes used in a demonstration and wanted to give it a go, but didn't want to spend a small fortune in case I didn't like it
