I love this book. Lots of good ideas and tips.

Excellent, clear, concise, and effective instruction. This book improved my painting. Carolyn's explanation of triadic and split complementary color schemes, along with pictures to illustrate, demystified what I thought were difficult color concepts in a matter of seconds. Also her explanation of using soft brushes to paint wet over wet in the later stages of the painting was immensely helpful.

This book is really great for beginner - intermediate level painters who would like to brush up on some foundation skills. The author has a clear to the point writing style that I enjoyed and her examples are very helpful! I loved the painting you chose as her examples as well. I loved this book so much I bough it as a present for a friend!

Carolyn is a very talented generous Artist. Her book is clearly written. This is one book I refer back to for inspiration.

Pretty good book.

carolyn lewis makes you think about the mood of your painting simply with her examples. she is certainly aware of her surroundings and shows you how to capture such things. im really glad i made this purchase

I had this book first of all from the local library. I read it from cover to cover and ordered it from Amazon. I have since read it again and it will be a constant source of reference and motivation to me in the future. Recommended for any aspiring artist of any ability!

Der Verlag bringt wirklich brauchbare Bücher heraus."Painting Mood & Atmosphere in Oils" ist "Brushwork Essentials" (siehe meine anderen Rezensionen) ähnlich, legt jedoch den Schwerpunkt auf Landschaftsmalerei.Kurz zum Inhalt:- Palettenansicht (wie man die Farben auf dieser anordnet)- kurze Pinselübersicht- sonstige Materialien- Beschreibung der Studio- und Freiland-Ateliergestaltung- Leinwandtönung- kurze Pinseltechnikübersicht- wie man mit einem Spachtel bzw. Malmesser arbeitet- Farbrad, Farben mixen, Farbschemata- Komposition- Farben während verschiedener Tageszeiten- jede Menge BeispieleMir hat es viel Spaß gemacht, das Buch durchzublättern.Wer etwas über Farben lernen möchte, dem kann ich das Buch empfehlen.Allerdings ist dieses Buch keine Anleitung zur Landschaftsmalerei trotz der vielen Beispiele. Man lernt also nicht, wie man am besten Bäume malt, etc., sondern hauptsächlich wie Farben gegeneinander wirken.Einige Beispiele sind schwierig für Anfänger ohne Erfahrungen, weil es eben keine Anleitung dafür gibt, wieso man welche Farbe wohin setzt. Das wird deutlich bei komplexeren Bildern in denen flächenweise mit Farbe "gespielt" wird.In einem kleinen Teil des Buches wird z.B. auf das Abmalen von Fotos eingegangen. Am Ende sind die Malereien immer viel stimmungsvoller als die dort dargestellten Fotos.Das so hinzubekommen bedarf viel Erfahrung.Es gibt viel zum Ausprobieren.Dieses Buch gibt einige Anstöße und Inspirationen.
