Like the concept, but the reality is not out of this world!
As a Nursery Practitioner, I am always excited to be offered for review any toys and resources which I can share with the children in my playroom. I liked the look of this Solar System puzzle, especially as Space is a theme that we tend to look at yearly with our 2 - 3 year olds. The puzzle itself was a little smaller than I had anticipated, being essentially an insert puzzle based on a strip of wood with the planets in line. The planets are fairly well decorated and are named beneath, but I do think that you would need to have a pretty good concept of the order of the planets to sort this out - some of the smaller planets seem to be the same size and similar colours, so this could lead to some confusion when placing them back inside their slots. The age guide for this is 3+ so I will most likely gift this to our Pre-School room where the children are 3 - 5 and will be able to safely use this without supervision. I do like this puzzle, but must admit to feeling a little underwhelmed by it and I am not entirely sure why. The concept is good and it offers a fun way to learn the order of the solar system. I think perhaps this might be best suited for older children, especially as the guide on the insert panel is a little vague to match the planets to. Good idea, but not out of this world.

Underwhelming
Very small. No wider than a ruler. The planets are not well represented in terms of their relative sizes so apart from Saturn they are not easily distinguished or memorable. Missed opportunity to prime learning about space and our solar system.

Wooden puzzle of the planets
Nice wooden colourful puzzle which mea surges 40cm x 7cm approx. Each planet fits nicely into the cut out and there is information about each one on the plinth. Luckily my one has Mercury spelt correctly unlike the advert !Perhaps a bit overpriced but it is nice quality.Hope this helps…..

Poor quality
It's like a poor quality sticker on top of a cheap piece of wood. Some planets are just the same size and not distinctive patterns or colours which makes it difficult for the kid to recognise. It's poor quality and therefore overpriced. So disappointing.

solar system puzzle
It was smaller than expected in real life. Would not give to young children as the wooden pieces are tiny. Planets are printed out nicely and slots into the holes fine. This puzzle set lets children learn the solar systems with the names of the planets.

Nice idea but low quality.
At the time of this review £15.99 which is quite a bit to pay, for this price I would expect a good quality wooden toy. However, what you get looks good while still shrink wrapped but once opened the quality becomes apparent. The pieces are lightweight, not that well finished off and only just fit into their spaces. Shame because the concept is really good and on the back there's loads of information about the planets. If this was priced lower I would give it more stars, but priced at £15.99 its too expensive.
