Can’t beat it for the price, I don’t use the lock it’s more for keeping my pistol at hand without it being exposed. I did line it with an old piece of sweatshirt just to keep from scratching my gun.

Its pretty obvious just sitting there that its not an actual book but yeah of a shelf might work. But it locks and seems pretty durable so it works and worth the money for a gun safe

Bought as a gift for forgetful relative that kept misplacing papers. They then proceeded to loose the keys.Are additional keys available?

Very good safety box for securing some of your valuables. But not made of concrete so whatever you put there will not be totally safe. So its recommended for simple things to hide away.

Looks great and blends in with other books great.

Excellent book safe. We have young grandchildren that visit weekly. My wife and I both work in law enforcement. Our handguns are stored in a fixed safe but wanted someplace to safely keep our personal protection weapon close at hand. This is the perfect solution!

The product arrived locked with the keys inside. How stupid are the manufacturers?To be clear there was no extra key outside the box.I had to tear off the book part and use needle nose pliers to get the keys out (FYI small gap on the sides which keys and coins can be extracted).The box itself works fine but I'm never buying from them (southern homewares) again because the irony and absurdity of the situation was infuriating.

Only problem was item was a little scuffed on arrival
