My wife loves to entertain outside but in Florida the bugs can get a little out of hand at about any time of year. These fans are super easy to assemble and run for hours on AA batteries. We have used them many times already and have found them to be effective at keeping the flies off our food trays. Now the flies aren’t stupid so anything more than about 18 inches from the fan is at risk. So two fans on the table can cover a pretty good area. We are happy to use them. I have seen fans like this used at local cafe in town. Now, yes the blades are spinning but are very light and thin so they won’t hurt your hands in any way while reaching for food. The fan just stops spinning if it touches anything. The blades have a reflective sparkle look that must scare the bugs away. I think this is a must have if you don’t like spending your entire mealtime shooing flies away from all the food. We eat out on the porch a lot an rarely have to change the batteries. It is really nice to have our outdoor table usable again. Another thing to think about is that they have hanging brackets and can be hung upside down over the table or counter top.

This product is incredible. We enjoy having cookout by the pool but flys have always been an issue, we put these close to the food and where people would be eating, fly issue completely solved. The soft blades are very safe, batteries lasted all day and still had plenty of power left. Great product.

These fans did a great job of shooing flys away from our food table at the last cookout. I'll probably order a few more for tables on the patio.

The product was weak the flys and other insects were still around. I placed all four one table by the food and it didn’t work at all.

The fans are a bit small and should be taller so it doesn’t hit our hand every time. The fans are also faced down instead of straight to the side

Summer in the south brings brutal horse and deer flies in unpleasant numbers. They bite exposed skin--but they can also bite just as hard THROUGH your clothing. NOT fun. I turned to these fans in desperation, as I hate chemical insect repellants as much as biting flies. Citronella is also out, as it's unhealthy to use around dogs. So with limited options, I put these into my Amazon cart.Surprisingly, they appear to deter flies. They didn't 100% solve the issue, but I feel that they are definitely helping to mitigate it--and in a safe, scent-free, and relatively unobtrusive manner. Assembly is a snap. I didn't need the instructions and had them up and running in no time. They twirl at a reasonable speed, but don't make much sound or push much air. They're totally safe, and extending a finger into one while it's going full speed results in minimal impact and zero injury. So far, battery life seems good--as they've been running for numerous hours with no slow down.We employ them standing up on a table, but handy hooks are provided on the bottoms if you'd prefer to hang them. You can also adjust the height of the units with a simple twist to lock or unlock. If you stand them up, handy trays beneath the blades make it very easy to add citronella or other repellant oil to the equation.Construction seems adequate, but $25.99 seems a little steep for 2 of these fans. That said, they have definitely improved the comfort of our back deck. If you're battling flies and seeking to avoid chemical solutions, they should provide you with some relief.
