Superb TV for the price, Roku software is great for a bedroom TV.
I bought this TV for the bedroom and initially looked at similar 32" TVs from other brands, Sharp, JVC, Hisense, LG etc. I went to a local TV retailer and saw this TCL TV alongside the others and the picture was noticeably better, I then saw this was a 1080P screen whereas the others are 720P. I wanted the Roku version specifically as we have a Roku on our main TV and we are familiar with it. The local store only had the Amazon Fire version of this TV so ironically I ended up buying the Roku version instead from Amazon! The 1080P screen is excellent, and is noticeably much better than the other 720P screens on offer. Initially it looked a little dull but I realised that was because it was set to 'Power saving' mode by default. Once set to one of the other modes (there is movie, sport, auto etc) it looks perfect. The viewing angle is fine for our use and the contrast from blacks to bright scenes is more than adequate. The sound is, again, more than good enough. We have it set to 22 (out of presumably 100?) and it is loud enough without any distortion. It doesn't have huge bass which is to be expected but it also doesn't sound noticeably tinny to the point that I feel I should get a soundbar even when watching films. Of course, if this was the main TV in the lounge then it would perhaps need some more punch. You can fit a soundbar either though an optical connection or using the HDMI (Arc) port on the TV. It seems it will sync powering everything on with the one remote which is nice. The Roku software is very good. We have a Roku on our main TV and when setting this one up I just put in my Roku login details and it configured everything the same as the main Roku. All my channels were automatically installed and configured so I could just use this new TV exactly the same way as the other one. One of the other reasons I wanted the Roku software on this TV was that you can use the Roku app on your mobile phone to control the TV and you can also use headphones paired with your phone to listen to the TV. This is perfect for a bedroom TV where you might want to watch later in the evening and use headphones to keep the noise down. I don't think the other TV operating systems offer this feature so that steered me to Roku.Having the Roku software built-in to the TV along with decent enough sound through the speakers means I can run this TV with just the power cable out the back - no other wires, boxes etc cluttering-up the place. This is very nice in the bedroom where you don't want loads of tech paraphernalia.TCL seem to be a reasonably good brand when compared to the other options at this price point. If I was getting a 65" OLED then I would perhaps look at LG, Sony etc but for a 32" TV they seem to be ticking all the boxes. The screen is better than the other brands I looked at, the sound is more than good enough unless you want huge room-filling bass, the reliability of TCL seems to be better than many other big brands from the research I did, the price is less than a lot of the other options as well. It comes with a 2 year warranty which is enough for me. At this price if it dies after the 2 years I would still consider it a worthwhile purchase - although I do not expect that to happen judging by the reviews and technical assessments I have seen online. All in all, I would highly recommend this TV especially for a bedroom or if you want to use headphones while watching.

Great product for the price
Great product, but the android operating system that comes installed has license limitations, easy to plug in a Roku device to add applications that are not available due to these restrictions. The courier service used for delivery was awful, product was delayed and very poor communication from the courier company this was not the fault of the seller.

Happy with the TV considering the price. But......
First of all this is a budget TV, once you set your expectations you will find the TV is really good, Picture and sound are good for the price. The sound can be adjusted which improves things and makes it less tinny. The Roku edition has Freeview for live TV and all the UK on demand apps, BBC iPlayer, ITVx, Channel 4 and 5 etc. It seems most of the negative reviews relate to the Android TV model which is more limited when it comes to apps for the UK market.Beware the Roku model (maybe others) does not have Bluetooth or Ethernet despite this being listed in the description. You will need to use WIFI for network connection and optical / HDMI arc or 3.5mm jack for audio.Roku is very responsive, no delay in opening apps or changing channels. Would have given 5 stars if the description on Amazon was to be corrected.

Not very smart
The price point of around £125 should have been a warning but the product spec in the listing sounded ok. I can't begin to describe how bad this TV is. The operating system is very laggy and presses on the remote buttons take a long time to register. The backlighting is very patchy with bright patches in places where the backlight LEDs are located. Having run the firmware updates, which took an age to download as it only supports 2ghz WiFi, I set about trying to install my usual Android TV apps only to find that the TV isn't "licensed" to run BBC iPlayer and the Channel 4 app is also not supported. Save your money and spend a bit more on a better TV. As the saying goes, buy cheap, buy twice.

Not bad for the price.
At the price point this is a pretty good tv. The picture quality is generally good even in a bright room. There is some tweaking needed to get the best out of it but looks good out of the box.The roku software works well.Overscan can be disabled on all inputs (direct) which is nice. This model (roku) does not have an Ethernet port (specs are wrong) but USB port can be used for wired network if needed (wired becomes an option in the setup when there is a link). The roku version does not seem to have chromceast built in.Sound is best described as OK.Viewing angle: It's really only good head on.Suffers from a fair amount of backlight bleed. No way to turn off the dimmingIt's not going to win any awards but is a solid performing budget tv.

Hugely impressive Smart TV at a bargain price
Without a TV aerial in my new flat and with, for reasons I cannot understand, none of the UK terrestrial channels allowing their apps to be uploaded to the TCL TV, I was all-set to return the set to Amazon because I was going to miss the penultimate weekend of the Six Nations rugby on BBC and ITV. Then I sought guidance from my Android Gemini assistant. Casting was the solution said Gemini, telling me how easy it was to do. So I have spent my weekend casting TV from my Chromebook to the TCL TV, with great success. Channel Five now broadcasting about First Class travel on a First Class TV.
