Contemporary Issues in Bioethics 8th Edition

This edition does not disappoint. I have all editions since the 90's and this is a required text for any of my medical ethics courses- on-line, in the classroom and in the medical school classroom. It provides great hooks AKA "anticipatory sets" to engage students in lively discussions. It is formidable- the physical look and weight and once you know the authors- the weight of cases presented by these great bio-ethicists. Even if you are not a student, teacher, or ethicist- it is great reading because the cases and situations it presents gets that critical thinker inside of all of us churning away. You'll surprise yourself when you realize how pertinent bio-ethics is to all of us.

The book I rented was pretty much brand new and amazon had prime available on it so it came before I had classes! Plus this was the cheapest place I found to rent this book.

It’s good! A little worn down but still good!

This book was amazing, the stories in it applied to the ethics that were being discussed and I really enjoyed learning. Easy read too!!

Can be hard to read and understand. Uses some jargon. Bio ethics are vague and useless really so classes that teach them are tedious.

This text book was written by multiple authors and contributors with different writing styles. Their concepts are extremely wordy, very repetitive, and difficult to understand or retain. It's almost as if the authors and contributors were paid by the number of words they submitted and not on the merits of their contributions.(Excluding the legal briefs)The myriad of writing styles, with most written in a passive vs. active voice, and a complete lack of vertical writing throughout the text book, make the concepts very wordy, and repetitive. Combine these facts with a micro sized font used throughout the book, the lack of an index to look up information, and it becomes THE most difficult text book to read, or to extract information from, in my over 20 years of higher education.I cannot wait for this class to end, and this book to sent back to Amazon.
