Wow! Wow! All I can say is, WOW!
I am so torn right now. I was so very impressed with Wynland Underwood’s series, and then THIS series came along, dethroning it ruthlessly and thoroughly. But wait, Don Pardo, there’s still more! (Kudos to you if you’re old enough to get that reference.)The problem, however, comes from too much of a good thing. You see, being released alongside this series is another Oriceran series starring Pixies, and it is equally as phenomenal as this one. So I’m torn by trying to decide which one gets the nod as number one. It’s impossible to choose.Martha and Mike have not so much upped their game as they have simply returned to their roots. These stories are lighthearted and fun, but also embody and render comprehensible several abstract concepts related to the nature of Life, the Absolute Good and countless moral dilemmas we face in modern society.Although it’s really quite simple in practice, the truly astounding thing is how they manage to do this without ever sounding preachy or moralistic.I say it’s simple, because ALL they have to do is create believable characters (in an unbelievable world), give them lives and motivations, sprinkle in a large cast of supporting characters, conceive of a plot readers will accept and then actually WRITE the books - oh and let’s not forget about editing…. OK, maybe it’s not so simple, after all…But once they’ve managed to do all this “simple” stuff, they need only have their characters engage with those concepts, philosophical puzzles and moral dilemmas, and BAM (I’m apparently channeling Emeril Legassi) they have a pulpit from which not to preach.Although it is incredibly simple to overlook the deeper messages and just focus on the fun, I am personally convinced that it is their willingness to address these things that forms the foundation of the phenomenon that is their respective success. From a more broad perspective, I believe that this also underpins the success of LMBPN as a whole, as most of that company’s earliest signed authors all give voice to much of what our world is experiencing today, but to which no one else has given a free and nonjudgmental voice. And THAT, that spark of kindness and acceptance, is what so many are crying out for, and can now find a path to achieve themselves in their own lives, and they find that path in the most unlikely of places…. an urban fantasy novel. Go figure!Oh, and Martha has REALLY upped her game with closings. The last sentence in the last few books I’ve read from her, are one and all flawlessly perfect, leaving me with the emotional equivalent of a stun spell while I process what she has wrought. Absolutely beautiful, my dear!

Winter's Warriors
Norah is trying to figure out what Madgea is up to and why she is brainwashing Hollywood. Norah starts Wintry's Warriors with the help of her friends to fight off the bad guys and help get to the bottom of the mystery. She is also working on finding Frondle and helping out her brother. Lots of action and mystery going on in this series with fun characters and storylines and I always look forward to the next book.

First time together is take one or is it?
Spells require magic. Books have magic and spells. After establishing a large cast of characters, enough for a Hollywood blockbuster, a movie is premiered.Movies cast spells upon the audience. That is what makes real life award winning performances. This is the release of a spell that is blocked by a consortium of the players in the previous books and an older assortment from the Original Oriceran protectors.Land versus sea is the background of conflict. Cliffhanger conundrum awaits in next volume of water, land, words or magic.
