This works GREAT!!! Had no problem getting sparks!
My husband was mad that I purchased this fire starter from Amazon as he felt it would be cheap. He ordered one that he felt was much better from Scheels. When this arrived he was very impressed. It was smaller than the one he purchased but every bit as good AND $20.00 less expensive!

FIRESTARTER!!!!
Does anyone else hear that song from the 90's when they think about or hear this? Oh well, maybe I'm just a weirdo. This works as needed. It's in my go-bag and another is kept in a dry bag in my kayaking shoulder bag.

Fun little tool for camping purposes
This is a simple fire starter set. Great to show kids who love camping. It easy to use and compact. I like to carry lint around with me since its easy to light for children then kindling. I usually just take lint from the dryer in my house. Keep it in the car in case of apocalypses. Would get again!

Nice fire starter for emergencies!
I recently went on a camping trip and used the Zorestar Fire Starter Survival Tool for the first time. I was really impressed with how easy it was to use. I simply scraped a small amount of magnesium off the rod with the included striker, and then struck the magnesium with the striker to create a shower of sparks. The sparks were hot enough to ignite a pile of tinder, and I had a fire going in no time. I plan to put the Zorestar Fire Starter Survival Tool in my bugout bag. It's a small, lightweight tool that is very effective at starting fires. I'm confident that it will come in handy in an emergency situation.I'm very impressed with the Zorestar Fire Starter Survival Tool. It's a great tool for anyone who enjoys camping, hiking, or other outdoor activities. If you are looking at this tool then you know what it's for go ahead and get it, you won't be disappointed!

Nice Sparker
This is a pretty standard striker type fire starter. The metal rod is coated with a black protective coating that will need to be scraped through first. The striker is nice, thick, easy to hold and handle, includes a bottle opener and 2 scales: 50mm marked every 10mm and 5cm marked every 1cm. It says that the concave end can be used for scraping the rod, but I found that cumbersome and actually used the flat scale-marked edge. Using a little force, it produces a decent amount of sparks that will quickly start tinder alight.

Sign me up for Survivor!
I finally made fire!I think I can go on Survivor now that I made fire with the Zorestar | Fire Starter Survival Tool! Who knew?I planned ahead and had my dry kindling all ready. Keeping in mind that magnesium was the key ingredient, I made sure to have enough. With the striker making a spark, we had fire!!This was my excitement for the day. I give this a high recommendation! It is something we all should know how to do in case of an emergency.

Took me a bit to learn but works
Took me a little time to learn as I've never used a firestarter like this before. Ended up watching a video on it. Once I figured it out it worked really well. Was able to start several fires using cotton and dry kindling. It throws off some pretty good sparks. After several uses, you will notice some metal wear so I am interested to see how long this lasts. This would be good in a survival situation if matches or lighter gets wet or lost. A lighter of course works better but this works well in a pinch. I think I'd prefer it to be a bit larger as it is a little hard to hold and a longer rod with throw more sparks and maybe wear better. Overall it works as designed and dsoesn't break the bank.

Nice piece of kit
Nice ferro rod for any emergency or camping kit. Has a nice wood handle with lanyard and multi tool attached. The multi tool as well as the striker has a bottle opener, 0 to 50mm scale on one side and a 1-100,000 scale to 50km on the other. As with most ferro rods the rod is coated with a black coating to protect the rod before use. You have to scrape the black coating off to use. You don't need to scrape all the coating off to use, just scrape the coating off on where you plan to use the striker. You will easily see the silver color under the coating, then it's ready to strike.
