First time having black garlic on it's own. Usually only ever had it as an additive to a dish. These are insanly good to just eat as a treat! Garlic flavor is not overpowering and has such a nice sweetness and umami taste, I just want to keep eating them one after another. These are dangerous, haha!

I've made my own, but you have to be patient and it makes everyplace in your house smell like garlic (But I liked that part) even if you do it in the garage like I did. If you love garlic you will love black garlic and Polar is the quickest, easiest and cheapest way to get it. Tough to find in stores. These are "Solo" garlic bulbs (which I've never seen anywhere for sale), so it's one big bulb with a loose papery skin protecting it and keeping them from sticking together. Peel that off and pop one in your mouth. Yum. There are recipes on the net, like at loveblackgarlic.com, and on Polar's site. Try some Black Garlic soup! It's fabulous!

Reported to help lower blood pressure. I am not sure about that but I prefer it over medical prescribed drugs.

Black Garlic is kind of mysterious and magical. The texture is like a smooth jam, the flavor is sweet AND umami. Not easy to describe. Discovered it in granule form at TJ's, and used in on eggs, in soup, on burgers, veggies, beef stew, roasted brussels sprouts and added to to pho. Now I've bought a big jar of the black garlic bulbs, which are super easy to peel. A great addition to soups, anything cheesy and spaghetti sauce. Theres a lot in a 20 ounce jar, so I"m giving about a third to a friend who's a really great cook. If you're a geek for great flavors, definitely try this out. It will be hard to go wrong.
