Hunter's voice shines in this contemporary romcom!
With Pixels and Paint, Hunter delivers a fresh take on contemporary romance with all the hilarity and heart readers of the genre will treasure. I was enthralled with the opposites-attract contrasts between the leading couple, and I deeply appreciated the flipped stereotypes throughout the story. The comedic timing of Hunter’s style is spot-on in this contemporary setting. Fans of her past work in the Regency genre will be happy to hear her voice is applied quite well in the 21st century, especially in pop culture references, snarky humor, one hilarious (and brave!) bit that unfolds at a diner, and in little details like trivial pursuit and droning philosophical artists. The interplay between Carter and Emma, from the intriguing first scene of their meeting, is clever and full of tension. Their relationship evolves from offering perspective on art and its merits and emotion to one of friendship and camaraderie. The connection between them is easy, and every time they are together on page it’s delightful to witness just how their opposite personalities fit. My favorite part about their romance is how each inspires some soul-searching and sacrifice in opening a space and life to another person.Aside from the romance aspect, the secondary characters appropriately play influential parts in Emma’s and Carter’s lives. Carter’s grandparents, especially, are endearing and lend witty wisdom at the right moments. I adored the platonic friendship Emma shares with her bff and boss, Jason — that’s just another way this novel is non-stereotypical. And, Emma’s family and sister are a significant part in the larger themes of the novel, particularly in exploring identity and the dangers of compartmentalizing relationships.Fans of Melissa Tagg and Bethany Turner should check out Hunter’s first foray into the contemporary genre — I’m hopeful and highly anticipating the buzz this story will create!

Pixels and Paint - Another great romance by Kristi Ann Hunter that I didn't want to put down. Emma Trinket is a programmer who dislikes art. Carter Anderson is an artist who dislikes technology. With their differences, you wonder how a relationship would develop. While it did start off a little slow, I loved reading their story unfold as they grew their relationship.I have read this author's amazing regency romances and anticipated reading her first contemporary romance. It did not disappoint. If you are wondering if she can write contemporary as well as regency, the answer is YES. I look forward to reading more about the Trinket sisters.

A Fantastic Read!
Ooh this was a fun read. I have long been a fan of Kristi's so when she announced a brand-new book and her first contemporary story, I was all in! I loved pretty much everything about this book-my only complaint was at times I absolutely wanted to throttle Amy and Carter. Emma was such a quirky and complicated character; it was interesting getting to know all the sides of her and how that affected her relationships and everything. There was a depth to this story that was super cool. I can't wait for Amy's story!

Great first contemporary rom-com from Kristi
First of all, the book itself is beautiful - adorable cover art, perfectly touchable cover texture - all the things printed book nerds notice and love. Now, and more importantly, the story. I loved Emma and could really empathize with her. I loved her growth as a person, maybe even more than I loved the romance. The story was enjoyable, light, and sweet, with enough quirky side characters to make me smile. The plot was fairly predictable to me, but I read a ton, so that is true of 85% of books in this genre. My only real sticking point was that I wanted to learn more about Carter's backstory - why had his inspiration dwindled? But I still found myself sneaking in a few pages while dinner simmered or I stretched before a workout, so I call that a solid 4 stars.

Adorable Rom-Com
Great read! I loved this fun story and the sweet romance between Emma and Carter. The relationship between Emma and her sister served as an excellent subplot, and I can't wait to read book 2 in the series. Also, Richie is a hilarious supporting character. For anyone who loves a good rom-com, this is the book for you!I'm always searching for clean rom-coms, and I'm so happy to have found another author who writes them so well. Bonus I didn't have to skip any pages for too much spice.Love, love, loved it!!

Great first modern romance from a great author!!!
I love the modern, rich characters that make a journey past who they were to now. The problems are realistic and the solution flows naturally. I love her historical romance books and I look forward to more contemporary books as well.

This book is a perfect mix of nerdy computer stuff, art, self discovery, romance, and love. I loved Emma and Carter! I can't wait for the next book!

delightfully Artful
Kristi Ann Hunter never fails to inspire. What an enjoyable read. I wasn’t sure about the contemporary or the cover, however, there is so much of life in this story.

Fantastic rom com
I loved this book. There are so many golden comedy moments along side some writing which made me laugh out loud. Look for Emma clearing out her apartment when Amy comes round. The main couple have completely different personalities and for a refreshing change Emma is the tech genius while Carter is an artist. The dynamics between Emma and her twin sister Amy change and improve through the book. I look forward to seeing how they continue to become closer in the next book. And can I please suggest Jason for Amy?Honestly I could rave about this book for so long but what you really need to do is go read it. Everything you could possibly want in a romcom with heart thrown in as well. Brilliant!
