This is a great recipe book for meal prepping
This is a great recipe book for meal prepping. Tasty meals in a Mason jar. These are perfect for work, traveling or just having on stand-by in the refrigerator. The recipes are easy to prepare, have beautiful pictures, ingredients are easy to get and all are in one of two sizes of Mason jars. Pint and half-pint. Recipes range from breakfast for lunch, layered salads, noodles and pasta, bowls in a jar, soups, spreaders, snacks and dips, and desserts. Using this method of food prep might take you all day to make, but you will be set of at least a week. You could have breakfast, lunch and dinner all done in one day. I can not wait to try these recipes. Many afternoons or nights I do not know what to fix or eat. Using this book, takes all the guess work out of deciding. Have it already made and the only decision to make is what meal to eat on a particular night.

Easy to follow and delicious recipes for packed lunches!
I'm a fan of anything that makes it easier for me to pack my lunches, so I'm really loving the recipe ideas in this book! I especially like that they're accessible, versatile, and decently quick. There's a nice mix of recipes in this book, from ones that will require a bit more effort and prep to others that are perfect for super quick and easy meals. Using these do require some forethought though, as much as any recipe does - you need to know if it's something you need to prepare in advance, or if you can do it morning of (most are definitely prepare in advance). I like that most of the recipes stay fresh longer than a day, and I like the tips Harlan gives about keeping your meals fresh (soggy granola is no one's friend).

This is a clever book with a lot of tasty sounding ideas. dinner for one or snacks for one. If you suddenly find yourself an empty Nester this is convenient if you were still working for a living or if you like to hike or go out for a day.

Classic Jars, Good Food
Mason jars may be the perfect container. My cabinets are filled with dried beans, brown sugar, walnuts – you name it and you will find it in a Mason jar. But “Mason Jar Lunches” takes the use of these iconic jars to a whole new level. If you are trying to avoid storing food in plastic or just like the look of these classic jars, these recipes will change your breakfast or lunch selection. This book, with its wide variety of breakfasts, layered salads, noodles or soups, is my new favorite cookbook. No matter if you just want to have control over your food, or want to avoid fast food due to huge costs and poor quality, you will feel good knowing you can look forward to one of these beautiful lunches. After a recent trip to Hawaii, I went right for the poke sushi bowl recipe and it did not disappoint. These hearty meals are beautiful and satisfy me all through the afternoon. Take control of your healthy food with “Mason Jar Lunches.”

Good
Not as many recipes as I thought there would. But the ones in the book look good. I haven’t made any yet.

The idea of a packed lunch has never looked so good to me before
Personally, there is frequently nothing less inspiring than packing a lunch to bring to work. I find nothing appetizing about preparing food that's going to sit in its container for hours before I eat it. Which is why "Mason Jar Lunches" is a game changer. This recipe book, arranged by food type, shows you how to prepare meals to bring along in mason jars. The photography is stunning, making for a truly inspiring read. The idea of a packed lunch has never looked so good to me before. The way the food is layered is both aesthetically pleasing, and as the author points, helps to prevent flavor mingling too-soon. There are some scrumptious desserts in there too, for those of us with a sweet tooth. Harlan is also quick to tell us about the pro's of using mason jars instead of traditional plastic tupperware, which includes the superior hygiene and durability of glass. I think this is a great gifting book for folks who frequently bring their lunches to work or school.

easy!
In the past, I have made what my roommate and I called Summer Oatmeal, which is just oatmeal and milk plus fruit and you eat it cold in the morning after it sits in the fridge overnight, because its hot and who wants hot oatmeal in the summer? And ever since then, I have thought I should get more jars and just do this with everything- but I don’t create meals. I’m not the creative cook, and most recipes assume you’re making easy-ahead-of-time-meals for your big family. Lo and behold, a recipe book for small households!! These are made just for 1 or 2 people, and in a world of “serves 8”, I greatly appreciate it. Frankly, I don’t want to eat the same thing for a week, and I’m entirely too lazy to figure out how to make stuff smaller when it comes to spices. I like that it’s not plastic, I like that there’s a way to build things together that doesn’t get mushy, and let’s face it- who doesn’t want No bake Cheesecake!? Worth it if you have a collection of jam jars, or are planning on getting them anyway, and the serving sizes are small so if you’re maybe trying to limit your meals, it’s a good way to go- you know they always say, if you want to eat less, get a smaller plate. I always make ridiculous salads, thinking I need it to be big to be filling, then waste it because I can’t finish it.
