Great for the trail!
I finished off a box of these, and actually found the flavor to be kind of appealing when you've been hiking for a few hours. The sesame flavor is subtle, and has a nice umami flavor which I personally liked when paired with a nice cold water bottle. Make no mistake, these are utilitarian, and reminiscent of military rations. It's a great way to get a calorie fix with a minimum amount of effort, and is presented in a very very muted flavor package - which is sometimes what you need.

Is what it is
Update on my review. Although I don't like this product the company has reached out and offered my a refund. I have declined because I don't write reviews to try and get free stuff. The company handled themselves professionally and I appreciate their offer. Thinking back the product is what it is, emergency, survival food. If it was all that I had to eat then I'm sure I would love it.

When survival is the name of the game.......
These survival bars are not bad tasting, but they would definitely not be what I would call "tasty". As a survival bar, they are fine, but I don't think I would buy these to eat as a random snack. I'll stash them away for emergencies, maybe take them on a camping or hiking trip to have something easy to carry and eat for sustenance and they will be perfect for that. The flavor is pretty bland, and the texture is very dry.

A dense, hearty snack bar.
These snack bars came individually vacuumed sealed in mylar and packed in a heavy cardboard box. The bars are quite dense, they are stiff to bite through but not so hard that they hurt ones teeth. The flavour is pretty good, they taste like a mild peanut butter and while they are a little dry, they don't require one to drink water to get them down. When I first tried them I was rather "so-so" on them but they have quickly grown on me. Now I really look forward having one each day. They seem to be marketed as an Emergency Ration, and they are quite filling, and unlike other bars which have sugar in them these won't hurt a empty stomach but these only have a two year shelf life. The shelf life does limit their use as Emergency Rations, as one will need to use them up and replace them every two years but they really are a great snack when one is hungry. I have used them as snacks when; hiking, working hard, and traveling, and they have become my preferred snack, replacing trail mix and nuts. Overall, I have been quite pleased with these bars and I have recommend them to anyone who needs a filling, energy dense, and hearty snack bar.

Great value
This is a great value and a great kit to keep on hand in case of disasters! I feel much better knowing that I have this to rely on in case anything was to happen. I haven't tasted them yet but they are packaged very well and the nutritional facts look good to me.

A little protein boost
It really doesn’t have much of a flavor, peanut butter or chocolate or something would be my next choice

Has some value, but in my opinion it's a quite suboptimal emergency food.
POSITIVES• The energy bar tastes good, albeit with a granular texture (not at all like a baked-goods bar).• The energy bar is wrapped in a sealed foil pouch. See the relevant photographs. The shelf life is reportedly two years at room temperature — although, based on the expiration date in March 2023, the shelf life was already ~25% gone when I received it . Not nearly as good as some canned goods, but better than some other power bars/energy supplements,NEGATIVESSee the ingredients-label photograph. This list of ingredients is quite simple and arguably not very healthy/not very nutritious.• The first ingredient listed, presumably the majority ingredient, is wheat flour. Firstly, this is a cheap ingredient that compromises people who have gluten and/or wheat sensitivities. Most other power bars/energy supplements are gluten-free. I gather that the flour is not even baked, given the very unusual brick-like composition of the bar. The only plus side is that the wheat flour is sealed in foil and therefore keeps much longer than normal wheat flour at room temperature.• The second ingredient listed is sugar, undoubtedly granular sugar compressed into the bar shape along with the other ingredients. Apparently the bar contains lots of sugar. Given healthcare-provider complaints about people eating too much sugar, this is an unhealthy way to get energy. Though one can argue that eating a lot of sugar is okay in an emergency, a person preparing for quick energy in an emergency can in that case instead more cheaply buy pure sugar and keep it almost indefinitely without spoiling, under properly cool and dry conditions.• At only 4.0 grams of protein per bar, these energy bars arguably are, nutritionally, substantially deficient as a survival food."Most adults need around 0.75g of protein per kilo of body weight per day (for the average woman, this is 45g, or 55g for men). That’s about two portions of meat, fish, nuts or tofu per day. As a guide, a protein portion should fit into the palm of your hand." [“Protein: What you need to know”, Heart Matters Magazine, British Heart Foundation].That's 11.3 of these bars per day for women and 13.8 of these bars per day for men. Therefore, considering complete nutrition, a pack of 24 bars would only last about two days for the average adult if that’s all they ate (not to mention that said adult would then get too many calories).BOTTOM LINEI consider this a quite suboptimal emergency food product. It’s excessively costly and does not provide good nutrition, in my opinion. Though it has some value, and therefore I will not give it an “F” grade, I cannot recommend it.

The name Of The Game IS 'Survival', After All.
These "Emergency Food Rations" are exactly that.... and it shows. When you open the box, you are confronted with small, individually-wrapped-in-plastic-coated foil bars. When torn open, the bars themselves are pressed & formed flour bars that are seemingly hard & dry. However; when you eat one, you find that they are actually not as hard or as dry as you imagined. They crumble into chunks quite easily, and the taste is fairly good. Not a 'candy' or 'granola' taste at all.The nutritive value is there. I felt a rush of energy after eating and --as I made certain that I was hungry-- they DO satisfy an empty stomach....at least, for a while.Overall; I would day these are a very good option for storing away and pulling out to satisfy a need.
