Become a Unity Shaders Guru: Create advanced game visuals using code and graphs in Unity 2022

This is one of the most complete books I have read when it comes to Unity!
I received a copy of this and I read it steadily each day little by little and I could actually understand what it was saying. If you want to learn how to become a Shader in Unity this is the book for you. You will feel at home and safe when you read this and follow along. The pictures of the examples are amazing. I love the fact that it shows the differences between Phong and Blinn-Phong. Some books that talk about how to do things in Unity become hard to follow. I have yet to get confused when I read this one. It's worth your time if you are serious about becoming a pro (guru) in this area of Unity. I highly recommend this book and this is not because I was given a copy to review. This is one of my favorite books to read and I will continue reading it. I will follow up on this as I go further into the chapters. I feel this would be a wonderful addition to anyone's library for learning Unity and it would be a mistake to miss out on this.

There is so much information packed into this book: But.. being a Guru takes work
Before Chapter one, there is a refresher where, is discussed, the Phong model portrays the interaction between a surface and a light source, and the formula for that. It doesn't stop there; it's also discussed why the Phong model by itself is too limiting. As a technical artist, I can make a good game using premade shaders and any one of the 3 Rendering Pipelines that Unity now supports. OR... I can create my own shaders and Unity Editor tools. This increases productivity, reduces time waste, mental strain, and provides clarity and context-awareness.Creating shaders and editor tools does require one to code and script. But the result of working with artist teammates or clients means that work is getting done. For someone who intends to specialize in Unity Shaders, this book is an absolute must. I feel confident I can level up my knowledge with this information. That being said, this book is not for beginners, though you may get to this point one day.

The Unity Shaders book I've always wanted!
I was sent the pdf of this book and I loved it in the first few minutes of reading it. I've been obsessed with shaders starting back in the early 2000s while working in feature film animation. For the past 8 years I've been using Unity and have obsessed over custom shader development. Unfortunately, good resources for learning shader development have been difficult to come by until I found this book. I love how the book starts out with a very complete overview of how traditional shaders work and then builds on top of that. I'm absolutely blown away that the book delves into all of the subjects I'm interested in, including parallax mapping, ray marching, and optimization techniques. And it discusses the multiple render pipelines as well. I highly recommend this book. It is my new Unity Shaders Bible.

Lots of resources and examples and git hub files to learn
I used shaders in Unity but usually go with basic resources but this book delves more into why we use Shaders and gives examples on GitHub and on the publishers website. I'm not finished reading the book by any stretch but it does give a really good explanation on lighting and the process of how we use it. I never even knew about creating shader files and declaring color properties. In my own unity projects I just use basic shaders on the color wheel but if you make it to the end of the book, you'll definitely become a generalist in the topic.

Excellent for those who want to dive into shaders and VFX
I've always wanted to jump more into shaders and so far this has been an excellent guide for me. Although this book includes step-by-step walkthroughs for a majority of the shaders it covers, I highly recommend getting acquainted with Unity itself (that is, if you're new to it). Having gone through hundreds of shader tutorial videos on other websites, I can certainly say that this book does a much better job at explaining every aspect of programming a shader, whether it's through code or Unity's built-in URP shader graph. I look forward to putting this book to good use and enhancing the visual side of my projects.

Great Book
This is a great book for anyone looking to get more familiar with Unity Shaders. I always wanted to learn more about them but was nervous it would be a huge task. After reading this book I have no issues digging in and getting the shaders I need and want for my projects. The author does a great job of walking you through the steps needed to create shaders and get more comfortable working with them. I highly recommend this book!!!!

Simply Amazing
This book is well thought out and well written. It's great for anyone who knows nothing or already has a good understanding of shaders in Unity. I love that it even has Github resources to dive deeper into the wild world of shaders in Unity. Fantastic!
