Styling the Stars: Lost Treasures from the Twentieth Century Fox Archive

Bought this book as I love the old Hollywood style of glamour and always interested in learning more. The photos are lovely, albeit in black and white, photos I haven't seen before and therefore are a treat. The only thing I personally would have liked to have had included are interesting snip bits of what the actors are wearing and what they were like to style, make-up techniques etc. If you enjoy looking at photos of stars from days gone by this is perfect but if, like me, you would like a page or 2 included telling you the story behind each of the photo shoots in the book, how they were styled, what was difficult and challenging about the style then this book may not be the one for you.

For a book on the dazzling, this fails to be glamorous. Badly lit wardrobe prep set-up photos of many stars (mostly from the 1950s). Perhaps for someone interested in clothes design of this era, it could be a good source book.

it's a great big old gorgeous coffee table book, as it should be for nearly $40 (down from $75 brand new). it arrived about 5 days late, which is ok since I didn't need it on the promised date but that's pretty late. I would've given the rating a 6 star, othwise. it's a gift and sealed, so I haven't gone through it, but looks pristine, as promised, so I'm going to hope for the same inside. not sure I'd buy it again, but it came from the uk to san francisco, so it's probably a good guestsimate re:posting time. would use the same outfit again when I need another coffee table book, however.

This book is gorgeous! Looks amazing with my other books, the cover is great as part of a ‘coffee table book’ look, and the photos inside are great quality. Really classy, interesting book - very happy!
