Old India Ground, Sage, 1000 gram

This sage powder (ground sage) is excellent value for the price it sells for. The quality is excellent and it's very freshAs soon as I opened the packet I caught a nice whiff of a grassy, herby smell that only sage can produce.This sage has been used and was used to season some beef rib. It was mixed with tomato powder, onion powder, garlic powder, a beef stock cube, a pinch of citric acid and loads of groundnut (peanut) oil. The rib was coated in the seasoning and then baked at 190c for 1 hour. The outcome was amazing. The rib was full of flavour witht he sage just getting the edge over the other ingredients.As for it being very fresh, the texture of the powder is still a bit moist as if it had only just left a grinding / flour mill. The colour is as I expected. As for the smell and the flavour, it is as good as any fresh sage that can be bought. When you receive this sage I advise that once you open the packet exchange it to air tight containers. Keep a small amout out for immediate use and put the other containers into a cool dark cupboard so it can't be contaminated by moisture or light. As you run low on the sage you have out, simply top it up but make sure you always only open containers when it is being used and close the containers immediately after as that will help keep the sage fresh .I highly recommend this sage as it truly is great value for money and it has a very long shelf life, mine has until December 2022, almost two years and that is only a "best before" date so it can actually last a lot longer but seriously, 1kg of powdered / ground sage is unlikely to see this year through as sage is possibly my most favourite of herbs and apart from it going in casseroles and beef dishes, it helps make delicious dumplings.

Lovely herb. Sprinkle in the gravy with onion granules, very tasty. Put in empty capsules for medicinal purposes. Mix in toothpaste, shampoo. Vegetarian homemade pies.

I have purchased this product from many different suppliers on Amazon and found this one to be the best and most authentic. The product and price was great and the delivery was fast. Would recommend to anyone and will be purchasing again.
