Seagate ST2000VM003 Pipeline HD 2 TB 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive - Black

I fitted this to my CCTV system to increase storage and it's been working perfectly 24/7 for quite a while now so it gets a solid 5 star review from me. UPDATE: After only a few months this hard drive is now failing and the self test feature on my CCTV recorder is showing bad sectors and read errors on the drive, so it looks like this hard drive was not the bargain it first appeared to be.

I purchased a Humax HDR-FOX T2 Freeview recorder with 1TB disk from Amazon mid 2013 and the internal hard disk has recently developed errors (bad sectors). Symptoms were: * failed recordings: recordings not starting at all or not completing or corrupted recordings (blocky, like weak signal) * FFwarding through recordings was like navigating through treacle..slow and unpredictable * audible clicking sounds coming from the disk on occasion So had no choice but to replace the disk or get a new box. A new disk was the much cheaper (and my preferred) option. I have installed the custom firmware available for free from hummy.tv on my HDR-FOX T2. A very quick and simple process that makes using and managing the T2 a lot better (it has a full web interface as well for managing the T2). But installing the custom firmware also means that you can simply swap the old disk for this new 2TB one, and format it via the HDR-FOX T2 menu using the remote control without having to mess about partitioning it. The whole process is about a 10 to 15 minute job in fact. PLEASE NOTE: YOU SHOULD UPDATE FIRMWARE TO CUSTOM FIRMWARE FREE FROM HUMMY.TV BEFORE ADDING A 2TB HARD DRIVE. If you do not update to custom firmware then you need buy the 1TB version of this disk instead. The process to remove the old disk is very easy indeed. 1. Unplug. 2. There are only 3 screws keeping the 'lid' on . Remove them 3. Inside the PVR there is a plastic disk caddy holding the disk in place. There are four screws, one in each corner. Undo them. 4. Unplug the fan header from the motherboard 5. Lift the caddy upward and unplug the power and SATA strip (it's in one piece) from the hard disk. 6. Unscrew the four compression screws holding the hard disk in the caddy (2 on each side) 7. remove old hard disk Fitting the new hard disk is the reverse of the above. The old disk is a Seagate Pipeline drive, and this new drive is also a Pipeline disk, just bigger, and designed for PVRs.

We have had a Swann Home CCTV system for around 10 years which has run more or less 24 hours a day none stop. This alone speaks of the quality and durability of Seagate hard drives. I hadn't realised that the CCTV system had a Seagate drive until it finally wasn't being read and I had to dismantle the unit. It's great that I have been able to get an almost identical replacement for the original hard drive. Removal and installation of the new drive was easy, just four small bolt and two cable to deal with. The new drive was detected by the system immediately and after formatting, it worked perfectly as expected. It saved me having to replace an old but perfectly good CCTV set up. Nice they are still around. UPDATE: It's stopped working and the CCTV will not boot up. I have fitted an old 16gb drive and that works, so this new one is faulty.

I’ve got the Swann CCTV set up and this works wonderful with that easy fit four screws and it’s done would recommend *****

I recently purchased the Seagate ST2000VM003 Pipeline HD 2TB hard drive to drop into my DVR. Overall, the drive itself works as expected. ** Drive Health & Performance: Immediately after installation, I checked the SMART status, and it showed only 8 power-on hours on the clock, completely normal for factory quality-control testing. It is running smoothly, quiet, and operating exactly as a proper DVR drive should. ** Packaging Concerns: The main reason I'm dropping one star is the shipping protection. The drive arrived sealed in a static bag, but that was just placed inside a thin paper mailer with zero bubble wrap or physical padding. Mechanical hard drives are delicate instruments, so seeing it shipped with no drop protection was concerning. The drive passed initial health checks and works great so far, but the seller really needs to upgrade their shipping packaging to protect these drives in transit, but overall, good value and compatibility and installation just as you'd imagine with an internal HDD

Sadly this was returned as ut was ancient stock and dated over 19 years ago. Not what I wanted to install in my security system as manufacture warranty wasnt valid due to age, returned

All good. It’s a hard drive so not much to say about it. Good price though and well packaged.

AVOID! This drive is over 12 years old. Ancient.. I ignored all other reviews stating they fail and mines failed three times in the first fifteen or so minutes. Returning, waste of time.

Als Backup Platte völlig ausreichend. Als System-Drive wäre sie zu langsam. Dafür ist sie aber auch billiger.
