They work
My chickens refused to go in then until I put their bedding in, which did defeat the purpose at first. Once I put their bedding in they loved them and switched themselves to these boxes. Then I slowly removed bedding a little at a time. Only complaint would be that the lift door to to get to the eggs aren't securely attached. Had to put some fat, flat rubber bands around that section so they would stay on and the chickens wouldn't be scared to jump on them to get into the box.

Pictures are deceiving . Grass mat is not included.
Don't put items in pictures that are not included, then phrase "accessories ". Now after a week of waiting I have to wait again for padding.

My hens prefer the plastic over the metal boxes
I have a bunch of metal multi-compartment nesting boxes that I have been using for quite a while now. I've been adding more and more chicken (now almost 100) and was curious how the plastic ones will work. Although the plastic boxes are a bit more expensive than the metal ones, I have seen more eggs in these. I think the hens like these more as they are not as noisy (when moving around inside) and they get more privacy. The metal boxes are flat on top so many times other hens use the top as a resting spot while the layer is inside. With the plastic ones, the top is slippery and is curved so that it is difficult for another one to rest on top. So the layer spends a little more time inside and probably prefers the privacy. Interesting to see! It's easy to clean periodically and so far pretty durable.
