Great quality but too thick for me

I rescued an abandoned kitten off the streets couple of months ago. He was a tough little guy who was going door to door in a neighborhood, begging for food and trying to get people to let him move in. I've been trying to teach him that he either needs to be gentle enough not to draw blood when he plays, or not bite me at all. He knows "careful" means to hold back more or stop. He has plenty of sparkle balls, crunchy toys, stuffed mice, and his favorite toy in the world is a wand with a cloth ribbon on it. There are three cat trees, one of which is about six feet tall. The thing is, it's not just a bit of energy he's trying to burn off, and I don't think the people that abandoned him taught him appropriate play. He feels this intense need to just exert as much force into his bites as possible, and his only way to do that is to go for my hand or arm. He knows he's not supposed to and I see him try to hold back, but it's too much for him. If he's getting too rough and I try to give him space, he'll sometimes go after my feet. It's like telling someone with a cookie craving to go eat a carrot- it's just not the same.I bought these gloves to see if I could safely play rough with him the way he needs to. These gloves have been great so far. In just one day, he's decided that "careful" means I'd rather not be bitten at all, and "gloves" means we can get the gloves and play rough. He has launched himself at my hand, grabbed it, bitten it as hard as he could, and kicked until he had to take a break, and he hasn't made me bleed. He has all of his claws and they are sharp as heck, but his teeth are the real culprits. Without gloves, he rakes those teeth across the back of my hand or arm and leaves me bloody. He doesn't dislike me, so I would still use caution when using these on an angry cat I don't know and use these just to find a way to safely immobilize/contain the cat, rather than an excuse to shove my hands in their faces. If he misses the gloves he can still get me, so he did poke my elbow with one claw once, but that's just because we're both working out the gloves' limitations. I can feel pressure, so I know when he's gripping me, I feel his jaws, and I know where his canines are. He can pinch me through the glove if he gets me just right with his little front teeth, but he hasn't been able to bruise me or draw blood other than the one slipup we had.I haven't used these with heat and the most liquid has been this dirty boy's drool, but I'd say these are great for pet cats and small dogs who need to get that energy out but can't do it safely without a way for you to shield yourself. I don't know how they would do against something bigger and stronger, but they're perfect for this stinky little cat boy.

These gloves are thick, but comfortable. You can't do things that require finger dexterity, like sewing or needlepoint, and you can't use your mobile phone, but as far as protecting my hands and forearms from my Goldendoodle puppy's needle sharp teeth, they do the job. The gloves are made of leather and Kevlar (used in bulletproof vests) so their protection is superior. I am under 5' tall, and have small hands, but these gloves fit pretty well. If you're a senior lady, as I am, your skin gets quite thin and a puppy merely scrapes one needle-like tooth along your arm, and you'll have a gaping, bleeding wound. Definitely give these gloves a try! For the price, they can't be beat!

Great gloves for handling wildlife.

My lovely cat really hates cleaning her paws after coming back from outside. Can't believe how many scratches I got on my arms. These gloves are made with leather and very thick and strong that no matter how my cat kicks them with sharp nails, bites with her teeth, there's zero damage on my arms. These gloves made our relationship much better, and I feel so much safer now. The only thing I wish is that it'll be great if they have XXS size. I got XS but my hands are very small and they are a bit loose. But they work, so I'm happy. Thank you so much!!!!
