Arrived from Amazon in their usual efficient and prompt way. The reason for buying this product was because because our new Samsung series 8 TV, like many of today's TV sets and BD players does not have phono jacks out for audio.Obviously I'm not the only one that has come across this. The DAC was purchased along with the XO digital optical cable which represents excellent value for money. The reason for giving the Lindy DAC 4 stars is because of the poor mains plug/adaptor( which is a little flimsy), but otherwise an excellent product and is well worth the asking price. Took about 20 mins to set up using some analogue phono cables to plug in to my pre-amp. Turned on the power and everything worked fine, with average sounding audio. I was previously using the TV's headphone jack to connect to the amp. I have since purchased a QED performance optical/digital inter connect with a pair of Atlas Element Integra analogue phono leads. The results are incredibly good sound playing Mumford and Son from my TV's internet connection. For those people who believe that analogue phono jacks are a thing of the past- they couldn't be more mistaken. The vast majority of high end amplifiers have phono jack inputs. In fact there are enthusiasts that still prefer valve amplifiers over transistors. My present audio system is Linn Majik pre amp with a Linn Chakra 6100 power amplifier. These feed a pair of active Linn speakers using 6 x 2.5m. lengths of Chord company's excellent directional Oddesey2 speaker cables.Whatever audio system you have, high end cables will make a significant improvement to your listening pleasure. Hope this will be of some help.

Good solution to an expensive problem
Like many who have purchased this Item; I bought a new Samsung LCD TV recently only to find that I had no way of connecting my old but reliable NAD Amp and Tannoy speakers. The only output available is Toslink from the TV.Not wanting to shell out for an expensive surround amp the LINDY SPDIF Digital to Analogue Stereo Audio Converter did the job adequately of linking up my various TV input devices to my "legacy" NAD amp.I now have the choice of using:Toslink cable from my virgin media box thru the Lindy DAC, and then phono out to the NAD amp.ORSPDIF from my Cyclone Micro 2+ Full HD HDMI 1080p MultiMedia Player Adaptor to the Lindy DAC and then phono out to the NAD amp.ORToslink cable from my Samsung TV thru the Lindy DAC and then phono out to the NAD amp.I chose the latter; as everything is poured thru the TV via HDMI and the toslink out to the Lindy DAC and phono out to the NAD amp. This enables me to have the TV sound and the NAD amp sound on at the same time. One can hear a very slight delay in sound but it is not really noticeable. This takes minutes to setup. Just ensure your select the correct digital input on the Lindy DAC for what you wish to use it with. (Toslink optical or SPDIF)The sound quality I would regard as acceptable to good, even when playing a good quality audio file thru the Lindy DAC.

Good bread-and-butter Device that works without worries.
Very nice useful DAC unit. Works straight out of the box as it should. It was well reviewed here which swayed my purchase towards this item. The setting up was truly plug-and-play. I only had one puzzle that didn't affect my use of the DAC and that was a Co-Ax input which I have no idea what it means. The input I used was an optical digital audio lead from the TV output - into the input of the DAC and then the other side was a simple 3.5mm Mini Jack lead taking the analogue output from the DAC to a device (in my case a hearing aid amplifier base unit that sends TV sound directly to hearing aids via a bluetooth loop) I thought a Co-ax socket was the aerial input to a TV from the Aerial mast on the roof that plugs into the old Co Ax socket on the TV or into the Aerial Input of a Freeview box. So as I say, it was a puzzle but I don't need it, so I needn't lose sleep over not knowing what it's for! The device works well and hopefully will go on working for a good long time. If so, it represents good value.

Great little DAC
This DAC works exactly as described, straight out of the box, no setup, and is small easily hidden behind the television. It is extremely irritating that such a product is necessary, given that it is the television manufacturers choice to provide no analogue audio out other than on live broadcast television (i.e. not on anything played back via aux-in, LAN, wi-fi, internet, of external hard drive). Also, beware that some television manufacturers optical output is constantly on, providing an audio optical signal all the time, whereas others require (a) switching it on via software on the smart-TV functions, and (b) provide the CHOICE of EITHER optical audio out or other, but not both. This can be infuriating, and for a while fooled me into thinking that there was some incompatibility problem or malfunction in using the DAC with an LG smartTV, whereas it worked fine with a Samsung. Nevertheless, full marks for the LINDY DAC. Greast sound quality too. Although I haven't had the chance to compare it with other DACs, I am pretty fussy as you can probably tell. Final point: don't expect itto solve the lip-sync problem for all TVs. On my LG smart-TV, a small video-to-audio delay is still present when using external audio rather than the TVs built-in audio, whether optical or not. Pretty pathetic TV design really. Not the LINDY's fault though.
