Well made zero drop shoe with plenty of room for your foot and a sensible amount of cushioning
I've been running with barefoot shoes for some time and have been very happy with them. However recently I had problems with sore ankles so decided to try these Altras with a bit more cushioning, but still with wide toe box. I'm really liking them. Just a bit easier on the ankle joints, but not these horrible super bouncy thing that feel like trying to run on a trampoline. They look good to me and seem well made. Five stars.

Great Running Shoes
Arrived a day earlier than expected (arrived Friday 19th July 2024). Very well packed and arrived in perfect condition. I find them very comfortable for running and walking with the wide toe box. Great shoes, great price, great service, thank you! 5 stars, would give 6!

Great shoes
Great shoes. They don't squeeze your toes so they're very comfortable. Good spring in the step.

Excellent running shoe
This is my second pair of Escalante. They are a great shoe to get started in when moving to a wide toe box, minimal shoe. I’m a UK 9.5 and bought the 10.5 and they fit great plus give me extra room.

best running shoes i've bought yet
ive gone through brooks, NB, Nike Free and many others over the years. I have had mostly success with most of these but the Altra Escalantes are just another level. Bought four pairs of this specific model in different colors so far and I can't overemphasize how comfortable they are for pretty much any activity except perhaps heavy weight training/powerlifting. Also have the Rivera 2 and that's a great running shoe as well. Altras are the best by far.

A good companion to my Lone Peak 8s
I really like my Lone Peak trail runners so I decided to look for another Altra pair with suitable tread and cushioning for pavements. If you're used to zero heel drop, your calves do the heavy shock-absorbing, but it's nice to have that little extra on hard surfaces. The Escalante 3s do the job well and look very smart and sporty. I even got a compliment on their first outing! I felt quite happy doing my longer city runs right from the start. They feel softer, with a little bounce, also more snug, but fine with thin socks. I first tried on the VIA Olympus but I felt insecure because those are very chunky with thick soles and pronounced toe roll-off. The Esclantes have what I'd call a more neutral and conventional feel.
