Great replacement, easy swap for the old that burned out due to a poor connection.

This is a heavy duty nicely made L14-30 female receptacle that is designed to handle 30 amps at 240v. Each of the wires slide into an individual tube when you assemble the unit, to keep possible stay wire pieces from arcing. There's also a screw down stress relief section that tightens down on the cord to keep the cord from tugging at the connections if you were to pull on it. Each of the tubes where you insert the wires are clearly marked with W,G,X,Y for the 4 wires usedThis receptacle is well made and doing the job nicely. I firmly tighten down the #10 wire (which needs to be used to support the 30 possible amps). It's designed to hold this size wire.I primarily use this to supply power to my welder. The welder sits on a cart that I built with a power distribution center on it. I run a cord from the cart over to the wall where I have an L14-30 female to plug this into. It works well and I really like the locking connection, it keeps things plugged in if there's a little tension on the cords.The main reason for selecting this plug when I designed my welding cart is because it works with most of the 240v generators out there. Generators use this plug because it can handle 30 amps at 240v for about 7500 watts of power (30 x 240 = 7200) Use extreme caution if you backfeed info your home with this plug.There are 2 main concerns to watch for if you plan to backfeed power.#1, is that you MUST disconnect the main feed on the house main panel to make sure you are not trying to power up your neighborhood, and that you don't risk shocking a power line worker who might be trying to restore your power. If the power does come back online and your generator was to be connected, you would fry your generator.#2, is that to back feed a generator with this plug, you end up with a connection setup with 2 male ends. Those ends can be very dangerous if they have power. Connect your wires before turning on the power at your generator to keep from having any shock risk. Today I received from Bargain The People Leviton part number 165-2713C.This is a COMMERCIAL grade receptacle.Colors are different.It comes apart and reassembles differently.It is very deceptive to add themselves onto this 2713 INDUSTRIAL quality receptacle selling page,and try to compete by selling a different receptacle which is of lower COMMERCIAL quality.In addition, his price is no bargain for the COMMERCIAL version of this receptacle, as Sears.com currently has it on sale for under $21.I did not want to save money - I wanted to spend extra to get INDUSTRIAL quality so it will last a long time through potentially rough service.Unfortunately, the same day I received it, I put this receptacle on my 8/4 SOOW cable, and used it. Only later did I discover it is not INDUSTRIAL quality.I am not going to disassemble it off my cable and pay for return shipping to get a refund.However, I urge Amazon to take whatever their normal course of actions are for sellers who engage in such fraudulent activity.Update - the next day 07FEB2013:Bargain The People has contacted me stated they made an error in selling it in this Amazon.com listing, and that I will get a full refund. Indeed I see Bargain The People has stopped selling the receptacle in this Amazon.com listing. So, this appears to be an honest mistake on their part as "2713" is embedded in the part number of the commercial version of this receptacle, and this may have confused them.I also now realize why it was difficult to get this connector on my 8 gauge / 4 conductor SOOW cable. The reason is that the Industrial version of the receptacle supports 8 gauge wire, but the Commercial version only supports wire as large as 10 gauge. I should not be using the commercial version of the receptacle for this application.

All the quality I expect from Leviton, with the hefty price tag to boot.When quality matters!

Local stores had this part of my project priced 125% higher than amazon... so I just went ahead and ordered both connectors and since they're the same part, they worked just as well as the overpriced unit. Odd the local store had the plug side priced reasonably, but then got all crazy greedy on this end.

Real good quality. Fit my 8 gauge cable wires nicely through the sturdy guides. I was between this and the similar one made in China that was a few bucks cheaper. While I cant comment on that one, I'm glad I went with this one.

After calling the electrical wholesaler and being quoted $120.00 each. I went to amazon and found this item. Shipped the next day. CSA and UL listed. The same as what's being supplied by the wholesaler. 5 stars all the way. Quality is excellent.
