This really is a beautifully illustrated book of Greek Myths
This really is a beautifully illustrated book of Greek Myths. The stories are of a suitable length for solo reading for competent readers (my year 3 daughter managed well with them), or for reading to your child as a bedtime story. There's a good selection of stories and they are well told. My children's primary school actually used this book within their curriculum to teach the children about Greek Myths, hence supporting that it is a good choice amongst the many books available on the subject.

Great book and THEY DONT USE ROMAN GODS
A brilliant book with fantastic versions of popular Greek myths. Used to teach my year 4 literacy.A lot of people have said they use Roman God names. Like Pluto. Pluto (Greek: Πλούτων, Ploutōn) was the ruler of the underworld in classical mythology. The earlier name for the god was Hades, which became more common as the name of the underworld itself. In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Pluto represents a more positive concept of the god who presides over the afterlife.Feel real sorry for the author because people clearly have no idea what they're talking about.Anyway. Great book!

Good book
We have given this to lots of children now and our own daughters (5 and 7) have loved listening to these for the last 2 years. I am a classics teacher and find these stories are accurate translations thay include lots of details from the original texts yet are also engaging enough for chulsren to enjoy and have enough illustrations to balance out the text. It is a beautiful, engaging and well thought out vook

A wonderful read
If you've not read Greek myths before or have always found them a bit hard work, this is a great starting point. I came across this book in our school library and used it with my class of thirty 10 year olds. They and my support staff loved these versions of the traditional myths. Very accessible for all ages and beautifullly illustrated. I loved it so much I bought a copy for myself to keep.

Infuriatingly mixes Greek and Roman pantheons.
Bought this to read to my son. Illustrations are good, writing is good, but, it mixes god’s names (Greek and Roman) within the same story. It is driving me mad! Wish I wasn’t a pedant but it says Greek myths on the cover use nomenclature appropriately!!

I love the book, storied beautifully told and enjoyed by older kids. Sadly, though, reeks of mothballs!
I love the book, had it years ago, perfect for working with older language-impaired children, they love the stories. Only problem is I don't know if I can use it much as it reeks of naphthalene (moth balls), and no amount of leaving it in the sun and fresh air seems to have made the smell disappear.
