Puccini - La Boheme [The Metropolitan Opera HD Live 2008] [DVD]

From the dramatic opening chords to the deeply moving finale, this is a fine presentation of this most loved opera. The behind the scenes shots of the performers leaving the stage and the lengthy inter-act explanations of the mechanics of the scene shifting were a distraction which somewhat detracted from my total immersion in the story .I can admire the magic of the set and the contribution it makes to the performance, but I would on the whole prefer not to be shewn how t hat magic is achieved

Angela Gheorghiu is is wonderful as Mimi, and with a top class backup this recording is superb

beautiful music great performances oof a beautiful love story. well worth the money

Always a great singing combination, the two principal singers. That said, I like Contrubas even better as Mimi

I was there for the performance or so i thought, the colours the quality the sound what a performance and the opera well just outstanding very much recommended
