Great Cold Pack
I had hip replacement and this was FANTASTIC, pain relief, long lasting stays cold, easy to use, stays in place, able to wear sitting and standing and flexible

The size and shape are what make these AWESOME
Bought two of these pre-hip replacement surgery. If I knew someone about to have hip surgery and they asked for the top 5 things to get to prepare, these would be in there. Yes, the ice pack is pricey. But this pad is large enough it wraps around. I set mine by the arm of my chair and park my glute on part of the icepack and wrap the rest around the side of my hip. Instant relief. This icepack is REALLY heavy. Some folks might not like that if they have a touchy wound. I was concerned about it because my wound really hurt (35 staples), but because I wrapped the pack around and didn’t have the whole weight laying on my wound, it was fine. (It might be too much to put on top of a knee replacement, for example.) I have not tried to wear it because I haven’t been that ambulatory yet, but the straps are well made and once I’m walking more I’m going to try it. I do like the soft, brushed side designed to put next to my skin, but if I’m wearing pajamas or leggings I use the other side because it feels colder. I haven’t timed how long it stays cold, but it’s a decent length of time. Not all night, but certainly a few hours. I tend to swap mine every 3 hours or so because I want the pack COLD not just cool. These are really well made and seem like they’ll last a long time. I’m going to gift one to my son for his achy neck once I’m healed and keep the other one myself.

Best pack for HIP I could find from LOTS of *Online shopping.
Hey - it's not "custom tailored" to lie perfectly flat on my hip, but came pretty darn close! Held the cold well. Velcro was very "sticky." It's sturdy and well made. I preferred to use the nylon side (vs "plush" side) against my body (my left hip which just had "low-invasive" replacement). It seemed colder. I agree with reviewers who say the straps would ideally be designed to work better on EITHER hip with EITHER surface. With the "Plush side on the Left hip" COMBO, it's very straightforward. (Likewise with the Nylon side on the Right hip combo, I presume.) But I made it work fine using the "Nylon side on my Left hip." Here's the method I came up with. Or you may prefer your own method. (My TIP:) 1. BEFORE putting it on my body I fastened the straps to make the loops as LARGE as possible; 2. Keeping the pack at ankle level I slipped my bad (left) leg thru BOTH loops. 3. I slipped my good (right) leg thru just the UPPER loop (which would go around my waist). 4. I then pulled it up my body, positioning it where I wanted it over my hip, and tightened the upper loop. 5. I then tightened the lower loop which went just around my (left) leg. 6. I might repeat steps 4 and 5 to fine-tune the position of the pack exactly where I wanted it, which provided a very good fit! (Note that I *improvised where I attached the velcro from the lower strap, but that was no problem.) This may seem a little complicated, but quickly became pretty straightforward and easy (even if not ideal). After use, it was easy to fold, place in the furnished plastic bag (as recommended to keep it clean), and refreeze.

Game Changer
this is a game changer. I had a hip replacement last week and I have been using this every two hours on the surgical area. It's better than an ice pack. I like the soft material I like the way it goes all the way down my thigh and I could strap it to stay in place. this is helping my recovery

Really Great After Hip Joint Replacement Surgery
I had hip joint replacement surgery this week and these have been great to minimize pain and swelling. It is common sense to thread the top strap through hard plastic loop and secure with Velcro back onto itself. I don't think the lower loop is intended to be used on high hip applications like mine. There doesn't seem to be any way to use it that was. The only way I could secure the lower strap was to just wrap it around the pad and around the lower thigh and secure it with the Velcro back onto itself. I wear boxer underwear and gym shorts, so there was no need to put an additional layer of cloth between the pad and the skin, just turn the fabric side of the pad toward the skin. the pads remain cold enough to be effective for about 25 minutes, so I needed the second one so needed a second pad so I would always have one frozen and ready. I tried to use a Ossur Cold Rush Cold Therapy Hip Pad with my Ossur cold machine and ice. Despite the very specialized pad for this application I struggled to secure it with straps. I think I would have done better with a self securing Ace bandage. Also, with the Ossur system you are tethered to the machine which doesn't work well with a walker. This pad was large enough and flexible enough to mold itself to my hip, without requiring perfection with the straps. 2 of these pads are MUCH cheaper than the Ossur Cold Rush Cold Therapy machine and pad. 03/25/25 Update: Still loving the product, but wishing the bottom strap was 2" longer and the velcro on both straps was stronger.

Great for pain relief not so much for keeping it in place
This day is nice and cold for a long time was very good at relieving pain. The problem is the thigh attachment only has one way to attach it instead of being able to secure it with two connection points. You have to wrap it around their leg and it just slides right off with walking.

The size and soft ice instead hard ice not comfortable.
Great for after hip replacement, because soft ice pack shaped to your hip and stay on.
