To Woo and to Wed: A Novel (5) (The Regency Vows)

Fake dating with second chance
I’ve read a few books in the series and I love the friends group.🦯I love the title and cover of the book and I envisioned West as Jude Law 😍 so Sophie drove me crazy a lot to fight West but they agree to a fake engagement for personal reasons. Mixed in are chapters of the past which I get her hesitancy and I liked her growth at the end. Shows her maturity and greater trust in her relationship and strength in herself.🦯The wedding plans were fun, knowing no one would want to do any of that but it seemed pretty historically incorrect but I’m here for the regency romcom.🦯Content and possible triggers: This has multiple open door scenes. Past death of loved one, past accident, manipulation, betrayal, being barren🦯This series concluded with this book releasing earlier this month. I need to read book 1 and 4. I think Emily and Belfry (book 3) is my favorite couple from this series. These are my own thoughts and opinions.

The best ending
I have read all five Regency novels in this series. The writing is interesting and refreshing. I can’t wait to see another series from Martha Waters. So much fun and clever writing.

The resolution
Was looking forward to reading West and Sophie story and how they would have their happy ending. This was a hit and miss for me because of the format of going back and forth in a seven year period of their relationship. At the end I didn't like Sophie that much and found West wallowing in too much self pity.

This is an ending to this series and it was a good one.The story follows West, the Marquess of Weston, and Sophie, Lady Fitzwilliam Bridewell, who reunite years . Now, with Sophie recently widowed and her sister hesitant to move forward with her own engagement, Sophie and West concoct a plan to fake their engagementThe audio version has an engaging narrators and the chemistry between them brings the characters and storyto life. This is a blend of humor, romance, and historical setting. A love story worth waiting for
This is the second-chance romance I've been desperately waiting for! While every book in this series can be read as a standalone (and I didn't read them in order at all), I do think that this finale is made even better by the four books' worth of tension between West and Sophie.Readers first meet the pair and become acquainted with their earlier ill-fated courtship in the first book of the series, which focuses on his younger brother, James. Though circumstances kept them apart, Sophie and West are clearly still harboring feelings for one another and doing everything they can to avoid confronting them. When this book opens, Sophie and her younger sister Alexandra are both widowed and have been brought even closer by their shared circumstances. But Alexandra has found love again, and the only thing that seems to be keeping her from re-entering a state of nuptial bliss is the fact that the loss of her companionship would leave Sophie very much alone.Sophie concocts a scheme to fake a courtship, giving Alexandra tacit permission to pursue her own love, but she knows that her sister won't fall for the ruse unless the suitor is someone that Sophie could truly love. Someone that she did love, once.West agrees, launching them into a fake courtship that is as awkward as it is adorable, and it's an absolute delight to watch them fight the inevitable.I've been rooting for them both since the start of this series. The whole set of Regency Vows storylines are self-aware about the absolute absurdity of their romantic dramas. Each couple's courtship is a house of cards built from schemes, secrets, and deceptions, each more trope-y and unbelievable than the last. Through all of it, West is portrayed as the one rational mind among their social set, too staid and responsible to be roped into a convoluted plot. And yet, in this story, he gets sucked into one anyway, because he loves Sophie so. Freaking. Much.He truly is the best of men. With all that build-up, this book could have been a disappointment, but it was a delight. Just as funny and cheeky and entertaining as the rest, but with higher emotional stakes this time around.I'm sad to see this series end, but each and every one of them is a worthy read for any fans of the genre.

Fun & Flirty
🎧 To Woo and To Wed 🎧Genre- Historical Romance. Length- 336 pages. My thoughts- To Woo and To Wed is the fifth and final book in the Regency Vows series. Seven years after they first courted, Sophie, a widow, convinces West to fake an engagement. Read if you enjoy: - Fake dating & second chance troupe. - Lots of reappearing characters. - Open door romance. - Lots of banter and humor. - Angst. Overall, this was a fun book! I’m thinking about going back and reading the entire series from beginning to end! It’s a fun one! Four stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

enjoyable
Although I’ll always prefer the previous book infinitely more.. this definitely was an enjoyable read and not to mention the climax we have been anticipating since the beginning of this series.

Satisfying end to series
Sophie and West have a history. It's messy, complicated, tragic and only after seven years have they just about learned to tolerate each other's company within their friendship group. And yet, when widowed Sophie finds herself in a situation where she really needs a fake fiance, West is the one she turns to.Although not obligatory, it helps to have read the entire series before this one. Sophie and West's story has been hinted at throughout the previous four books, and not only do we get that full tale here in teased-out flashbacks, but there are also reminders of the earlier instalments through the banter in the group scenes - all of which are very funny and one of the major highlights of the book. Sophie is stubborn almost to a fault, but that aside I liked how they (eventually) dealt with their issues, both with each other and with external factors. Full of sharp wit and memorable characters both major and minor, this is a very satisfying conclusion to a series that has continued to get better and better.

Nice but not my favourite
I’m not sure if I just wasn’t in the mood for this but having really enjoyed books 2-4, this one just fell a bit flat. It was rather differs to the others in that there was so much history and sadness between West and Sophie. However I felt that the sadness meant that there wasn’t really much attraction between the main characters any more, just a sort of wistfulness as to what they had missed out on and because of that it felt difficult to really become engrossed in their story. I also felt the original misunderstanding wasn’t really big enough to cause all the later furore. That might have been because I was fully expecting that Sophie had in fact been pregnant and the marriage to Fitzwilliam necessary to cover this up. The lead up and the fact that she was so afraid made me think something much worse had happened and thus the actual reveal much less than what I was expecting. I’m not sure the split timelines worked either - I kept getting really confused about when we were in time. That made reading about the affair with Jeremy slightly disconcerting as i had to flip back to remind myself that it was not in the present! That said there were some nice moments and the sisters and family were very well portrayed. I loved Alex’s announcement of her marriage. It might have made more sense around the marriage plans if there had been more sense that she smelt a rat earlier but there were some nice bits with the twins and the friends.Just a little disappointed as I really enjoyed the other 3 books and this just lacked some of the wit and vibrancy I’d come to expect from this author.
