Ideal Pet Products Designer Series Ruff-Weather Pet Door with Telescoping Frame, Small 5" x 9.25" Flap Size

I had my handyman install this Ideal Ruff Weather small size in the door of a shed to allow a colony of feral cats to go in for winter shelter while keeping out a bunch of raccoons. My handyman had never installed a pet door before, and he was impressed with this one. Right now, I have taped both flaps open with Gorilla tape until the cats get used to going through the pet door. The flaps are thick and sturdy so the tape may not hold very long in this freezing weather. I wonder if it is possible to temporarily remove one or both flaps until the cats are used to going through the opening?update: I found out that the flaps can easily be removed until cats get used to going through the pet door. There is a short video online that demonstrates this, using a Philips screwdriver to remove the 3 screws and holding frame at the top. Also, on the manufacturer's web site you can order parts if ever necessary. Very pleased with this pet door!!

You will need to take a meditation class before installing this deal because it is going to push you to the brink of insanity. Once it’s in though, it’s an awesome little door that is very functional. My dogs were very reluctant to go through it for the first time, so I suggest having lots of doggie treats nearby!

if you can install this in a wall is best. Mine is in a door, still better than the old one. Nearest flap sticks bent inward as cat goes in and out but 2nd flap remains in place, so less heat loss anyway. Amazingly easy to install.

Nothing physically wrong with the doggie door, but when I took it out of the box, both of the plastic flaps were dirty with white smudges all over. No big deal I washed the flaps. I just didn’t expect a brand new product to be dirty like that

Our pet door arrived just as promised. Good quality. After several months of use, no issues. Definitely one of the best doors for energy efficiency. Hard plastic door cover is fully cat proof so they can't pull it off the door when you're want them to stay inside.

I bought a cheaper pet door with a single flap. Then I realized how much air was pouring out and rain was getting in the edges. This door solved both of those problems. I really like it. It really keeps the outside out.Also, I didn't get the bolts in my box so I called. Customer service was great. They sent out new bolts. Then I realized my three year old had actually stolen them from the box and put them in his playhouse. Thanks Ideal Pets and sorry you had to send me new bolts!Next time I need a dog or cat door I'll definitely get an Ideal Pet one.

Love this door!! My 10lb York is mix took right to it with a little treat encouragement. Side note: Be sure you understand what tools are needed to install based on your door composition. And make sure you put the template on right ON BOTH SIDES of the door before cutting.

Quality door, be cautious on the size, our 7 pound yorkie is a tight fit, 5 pound goes thru easily. We live on the coast, driving rains are common. We noticed some water inside the flaps, we caulked the seams inside the panels.
