American Made [Blu-ray] (4k)Played the physical 4k disc in my PS5 and encountered two (1 min.) areas where the disc was unreadable and it skipped over small parts during playback - might have just been unlucky on this one - knocked off one star for it but it wasnt that bad - overall 4k quality was goodUsed the included code to successfully redeem the 4k digital movie on Vudu / Fandango

FINE! SPOILER ALERT
UPDATE: I just found out Cruise was supposed to be a 22 year old, If thats true, it really missed , and I must have missed, too! This was a rather light-hearted version of the typical, "This is not going to end well" movie about drug cartels.OKAY, FINE! SPOILER ALERT!But, come on! We've all seen it before. Someone hesitantly gets involved, gets filthy cash rich, never saves a dime, and ends up broke and murdered. By light- hearted, I mean in COMPARISON. Yes.There were not constant shoot outs or sadistic murders, just a couple. There were some great flight shots of the fancy small plane that drove like a Ferrari, and Cruise having to ditch it in a fabulous crash landing scene.Tom Cruise was oddly charming in his role as a guy, just barely this side of paunchy, happily married, a respected major airline captain, but so burned-out, he's barely able to go through the motions of his job, and also a bit too old to be having a second baby.I say "oddly charming" because the character is SUCH an average guy with a bad haircut, (probably a recurring nightmare for Cruise and why he stays in Scientology) but would still be considered a catch at a Holiday Inn lounge. Not a bit the slick Cruise we're used to.He gets lured by the CIA with money and a bit of excitement using the hot wings (Get it? Hot Wings?) to fly close and fast enough to take reconesance photos of Sandanista resurgence in Nicaruagua, but of course gets "persuaded" to smuggle cocaine at much higher pay by the cartel.A good Friday night watch; not too bloody for her, some pretty good action for him.

Not great but lots of fun
An appropriately puffy Cruise is fine as a greedy, conceited Good Time Charlie who ignores the common sense rule that if it seems too good to be true it probably is. "I maybe shoulda asked more questions" he muses — a little too late. A talented pilot with a yen for adventure and an eye for an easy buck, he's offered him his own plane, private hangar and runway to ferry cargo to and from Latin America and take some recon photos on the side by a purported CIA agent. Pretty soon Tom is involved in drug smuggling, gun running, chummy relations with Columbia drug cartel kingpins and more. He's wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. What could go wrong? Loosely based on fact, who knows how much is true, but does it matter? Do not expect "Mission Impossible" style action and stunts — this "hero" is a far cry from Ethan. At almost 2 hours the movie is way too long and becomes repetitive and rather tedious with jokes and aerial shots held onto forever. Still, on the whole it's very enjoyable, not great but lots of fun.
