A Great Way to Drop Stitch for the Die Hard Crocheter
I bought this book because I loved the cover design and because I am a knitter, embroiderer and general fiber artist who is trying to increase and improve my crocheting skills. When I first saw the instructions, my first response as a knitter was "Why not just knit this" It would be much easier." Well, not everyone is a knitter and not everyone wants to be one. With that in mind, this is an amazing book. Drop stitch for crochet does involve two handed dexterity, because at one point in the process the crocheted stitches are transferred to a knitting needle held in the left hand. The instructions for this are clear and simple and make the process look easy - though I am certain it is not, especially for crocheters not used to working with both hands. The drop stitch pattern is shown in several variations and the projects range from easy to advanced. I am most attracted to the cover sweater, but I am a person who likes technique books rather than projects. This book provides both - and that is a valuable balance. Those who want to learn the techniques and variations and then design their own projects can do so. Those who want to practice their skills under the direction of a project can do that too. Far too many books lose this balance.Yarn weights are given and substitutions could be easily made. The instructions, photos and diagrams are clear and cover visual and auditory/reading learning styles. There are no hints given for left handers, but these are left out of almost every book. All in all a nice little pamphlet book that introduces an obscure technique variation in a clear, comprehensive and attractive manner. A winner.

Really love it
But then, I really love Kim Guzman. There are so many nice designs in this one and I want to crochet all of them. Like with her designs, I start with the simple ones (like a scarf) before I work on a big one. Her designs are innovative and her patterns easy to follow. I recommend also that you check out her videos on YouTube. She has so many different stitches you can learn, in regular crochet and Tunisian crochet. I learned Tunisian crochet a long time ago and was turned off by the resulting fabric (very stiff and so dense). With the advent of newer and softer acrylic yarns and wools, and all the new Tunisian stitches, it has been revived. With Kim's drop stitch crochet, you can create lacy projects and really nice wearable designs. This is a good buy.

Learning the Drop Stitch
The directions at the front of the book are real clear and I could understand it. I did some practice time but I haven't attempted to make anything as yet. Had too many other projects going. When I do attempt it, maybe I will write another review.

Easy Directions
Easy to follow directions and projects to do. I think this is the same stitch that was once known as broomstick lace.

Excellent
Great take on using the broomstick lace technique and taking the same stitch and doing this process different than the original
