I was looking for a decent portable monitor to connect my assorted gaming consoles to so that I could game on the couch while my wife watches TV. I did some research and I found the UPERFECT Portable Monitor 2K 144Hz. It had good reviews and the price was acceptable. I bought it back on October 6th, 2023. I hooked my PS3 and Xbox 360 up to it and played some forgotten gems. I bought a little off-brand dock for my Steam Deck and played a lot of Skyrim on it. Played some Destiny 2 using my laptop with no issues. It was great! The only thing that I was disappointed in was the lack of VESA mounting.About a month after I got the monitor, it just stopped working. The monitor would turn on but, it would only display the "No Signal" message and power save itself off. This was right before Thanksgiving and Christmas and life got busy. I finally got around to contacting UPERFECT customer service about two weeks ago. They were extremely helpful during this whole process. We walked through troubleshooting steps. I sent them a video showing exactly what was going on and then we tried a few more things. We were unable to get the monitor working again and I shipped it back to them. As soon as I sent them the tracking number for the old monitor, UPERFECT sent me a new and updated version of the monitor! The new monitor even has a VESA mount on the back of it! I love it! It's even better than the first one!This is the first review that I have ever written on Amazon because I usually can't be bothered to take the extra steps. The company got my money, that's good enough. Not this time! I didn't know what to expect with UPERFECT customer service since it had been a few months since I made the original purchase. They blew me away with their prompt responses and the end result. Every interaction was a pleasure and I got the sense that they cared about the experience from my point of view.Enough rambling, here's my review of the monitor:Design and Build Quality:Nice modern, minimalist design. Thin bezels surround the vibrant IPS panel maximizing the screen-to-body ratio. The monitor itself is lightweight, weighing in at 2.3 pounds, making it incredibly easy to carry around in a backpack or laptop bag. The monitor comes with a smart cover that covers the entire front and back of the monitor while closed. The smart cover also doubles as a stand. The monitor also has built-in speakers that will do in a pinch. The speakers are slightly better than my Gigabyte monitor built-in speakers on my desktop gaming computer. They are definitely louder than the speakers on the original UPERFECT monitor.Display Performance:I am impressed with the 144Hz refresh rate and sharp 2K resolution. It is the perfect sweet spot for my gaming needs. I love the smoothness and clarity of motion on the monitor. I'm no display expert by any means but, the colors are vibrant and appear to be accurate. This monitor comes equipped with FreeSync and HDR.Connectivity and Compatibility:This monitor features 2 x USB-C ports that handle audio and video as well as power. There is also a mini-HDMI port and a USB-micro port for OTG adapters. The monitor comes bundled with a 20 Watt USB-C power adapter, two USB-C cables and one mini-HDMI to HDMI cable.Overall Impression:The UPERFECT 2K 144Hz Portable Monitor excels in delivering a premium viewing experience in a portable package. The combination of higher than average resolution, high refresh rate, and great build quality makes it a worthwhile investment for those who prioritize performance and portability.Final Verdict:If you're in the market for a portable monitor that doesn't compromise on performance, the UPERFECT 2K 144Hz Portable Monitor is an excellent choice. Overall it's a solid monitor. 2k/144hz out of the box in Windows. HDR as well but has to be enabled in the menus on the monitor first. Works well with pc as well as consoles. I've only tested consoles up to 1080p/60. There's not a lot to say about the visuals. Everything looks good and as it should in windows and gaming. Sound is fine. Small speakers sound good enough for on the go use. There is also a 3.5mm audio jack.Full size hdmi port is a nice inclusion since most others use mini. USB ports support video but that's not particularly useful in the pc or the gaming spaces due to lack of widespread support. I couldn't get displayport to usb c to work with a bi-directional cable on this one like I could on the last monitor from the same company. I understand usb c is easy but I do wish there was at least a mini-dp port as well.In the box, it came with a couple of usb c to c cables and an hdmi cable that are pretty short but do the job. There's also a 20w power adapter that's the same as the ones shipped with older monitors. The magnetic cover has a better magnet this time so it sticks to the monitor better as a protective sleeve. I still wouldn't use it as a stand though since the monitor will slip off the grooves holding it up without much resistance. It also came with some vesa screws that fit the monitor which was a nice bonus.For now it's a 5 star item. I'm cautiously optimistic but time will tell. I had a 16in one from the same company that failed inside of 2 years. Replacement warranty is only 1 year but they do offer some limited support beyond that. Customer service is responsive.
