Professional Soldering
As someone else has stated the write up states that this is a soldering and brazing torch, which would be stretching it a bit if you are familiar with brazing. Technically there is no difference between soldering and brazing - you use a filler metal and you heat it up. However brazing is generally considered to be a higher temperature process and most of the filler metals would not melt at the temperature achieved by MAPP gas.Where the crossover would come would be with silver. AG60 is great for good joints and can be easily achieved using MAPP gas and this torch. However moving to AG40 you are in the lower end of 'brazing' and whilst just about achievable with this unit, the reality is that, you would be much better off with oxy-acetylene or oxy-propane.However, I would guess that most of the people who would buy this are well enough conversant with the differences to understand that what this really is, is a very good soldering torch. For that purpose this is ideal and far, far ahead of the bog standard DIY fayre.I usually buy one of these for any ship or construction vessel I'm working on as it's idea for use with AG60 on AC and refrigeration systems when carting oxy-acetylene around is a pain. Not as quick but far more convenient. Being self lighting is a real bonus as it saves having to have a separate ignition source which invariably will be impossible to find at short notice. This one I bought for myself as I've been renovating a house and had a new heating and plumbing system put in. Of course I used a plumber/heating 'engineer' but as usual their standards are not as high as I'd expect from a real engineer or indeed a pipe fitter/welder. For time reasons I used a firm to put in the basics but now I'm in the house and getting towards the end, I've started to correct the plumbing and heating to a standard that I like to see. That means proper even pipe runs, neat bends and valves that allow me to isolate any part of the system without having to drain off the entire house. For that reason I bought this torch which allows me to do a good solder quickly in a confined area. Get the heat on and off as quickly as possible when there is combustible material around and of course that conversely means a higher temperature burning gas. This has a good tight flame and burns far hotter than single mix propane or butane. Propane burns at a max of around 1500C whereas MAPP will give you around 1750C so you can far more quickly get heat into a joint. If you are going to do any significant amount of pipework or you are using silver solder then this would be a far better bet than the standard propane or butane torch. Bit heavier as the bottles tend to be more solidly constructed, but perfectly usable.

Not much good on anything thicker than copper tubes , found the handle froze up under higher gas pressure .

transtools missleading
Ordered from Amazon because in the advert there is a picture of a free bag that comes with the torch, having received the item - No bag, phoned Transtools and was baffled by who sells what to whom and the set-up of the business - needless to say not very helpful - filed a complaint with Amazon. Item however delivered by transtools great - thank you for its receipt. Not interested in excuses or how terms of busineeses are set-up just want what ive ordered - missrepresentation of advertising

Read the wite up
This product states in the write up that it will braze, look else where if you intend to braze with this torch as the flame will not pin point the heat in one area. Its fine for silver soldering, but not BRAZING as most engineers know it. Had to purchase else where to get a oxy/propane torch

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE ADVERT.
iF IT LOOKS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS. After contacting Amazon Customer Services (0843 4799792 ) who were very efficient in contacting the supplier with an Email sent to me, within a flash the advertisement was withdrawn...It displayed a bag with three gas canisters and blow torch. On receipt I only received one blow torch and one gas canister. Seamingly the responce I received from the supplier was no apology and money refunded, which other customers also received. The Rotenberg blow torch is the best and most widely used by plumbers, as it provides intense heat in a very short time.

Top notch
I bought this product to replace a gas blow torch that had finally packed in. I love the auto light and the power of the flame allows me to do lots of jobs I could not do with my previous torch. Very flexible and well worth the price. The product was delivered on time and well packaged and will use this supplier for gas when I need a replacement. I would like to have bought the case that it was advertised in but could not find it on this site.
