Kakeibo

Should have bought sooner!
I should have bought this months ago. Ironically, I was trying to save money and copy this information into a notebook. After a month or two, copying charts became a daunting task and I no longer felt like keep tracking of my financial habits.I am so glad I finally purchased this book! I am in love with the look and feel of the book. I am happy with choosing the original kakeibo over other versions. The colors and feel of the book are inviting. The spending plan explanation is a great guide to keeping track every month. I would change from a bound book to a spiral for better functionality and ease of writing.

The Best Kakeibo Book! Also, Fits my Franklin Planner, Classic
I came on here just to make sure this book is still available! Many months ago I had purchased a few Kakeibo journals and accounting books to compare and figure out how I was going to enjoy using them the most. This one is hands down my favorite! It isn't as busy and leaves room for notes, adjustments, customization, and has a fresh, pleasing layout.Plus, I can easily separate from the binding the pages for one month at a time, use my custom hole puncher from Franklin Covey, and place these pages in the financial section of my classic sized planner to use, at the point of need, without having an extra book to carry. We really only use the pages to track our food money or little expenses that pop up as a family of 4. We see if we can save from that.We use PocketSmith and YNAB for the rest of our finances, but have given ourselves a daily/weekly food or extra expense budget that we track on these pages. It makes it super easy and simple to do and we are finally sticking to the budget, while saving a little extra. Otherwise, it was too easy to, once we set the dollars aside for planned expenses, to go over our food budget/other needs well before the month was up. It was the key area of overspending for us. This keeps us on top of it, daily. It is like a cash based system without the cash.A few times a week I still sit down for a few moments with YNAB/PocketSmith for other reasons.

Recording daily how much you and your family spend will show where your money goes
"The best budget is the one that works for you." Tim Herrera, NYT Smarter Living EditorKakeibo requires method, planning, and discipline. The initial calculations appear daunting, but actually flow well. They allow you to place monthly constant/essential expenses (car loan, mortgage/rent, utilities, etc.) in one category, and everything else in a separate category (petrol, food, meals out, insurance copays, etc). It will take around 90 days to get your budget in order (given variable monthly rates in utilities, credit cards which are paid later than the initial charge, the date you start "Kakeiboing"), but the simple act of writing down every day how much you and your family spend will show you in time where and to whom your money is actually going. As with any talent/hobby, when you apply yourself every day, you hone your skills and become stronger over time.Kakeibo can be started any day of the month, but I would advise starting on the first day of the month (KISS). Combine your daily receipt analysis with an app that scans receipts so you can collect some rewards/gift cards while Kakeiboing. How much you spend is equal in importance the amount you make.Once you have determined where your money is going, you will find ways to alter your spending habits to place money in savings/retirement/vacation.

A simple and functional tool for improving your budgeting
I've always been good at maintaining a budget as it pertains to living within my means. I know in detail what bills are due when and how much is owed. I also know what I want to save on a monthly basis. It's the little things that I struggle to keep up with though, and this is where the Kakeibo book has really helped. The $5 for lunch here, $10 amazon splurge purchase there can quickly eat away at disposable income and can be hard to track if you're not dedicated to doing so. This book not only forces you to do so, but also pushes for self-reflection at the end of each month as a means of improvement. A nice budgeting tool for the price.

Condition of the book
Looking forward to using this book. When it arrived the corners on the front and back were damaged, bummer.

Great Concept
I’ve been using this for a while now. A great way to practice mindfulness with your money. Easy to understand especially if you’re not a math/financial minded person.

Highly recommend doing this as soon as possible
Whoever said this was for finance as Marie Kondo is for organizing stated it perfectly. This is a necessary process for everyone. Prevents excess & helps prioritize not only how to spend money but where to spend your time.

Nice idea, but cannot be customized to fit individual needs.
I like the concept of this, but there isn't enough flexibility within the book to allow you to add additional expenses or to customize it in any way. You’re better off with a regular notebook.

bueno

Helps track daily expenses in a simple manner
This is not a book. It's a expenses tracking journal. It's simple and easy to use. The only downsides are the currency is set as £ and every month starts on Monday which is not realistic.
