Per-shave
I use the old type straight razor. There is lot to do before you start to shave, the last step is to use a good pre-shave. Dr. Harris products are some of the best for everything in shaving gear. This product is not oily, or harsh. Has a nice smell also. Give it a try if you would like a close shave with no razor burn.

Too much Arlington
I love Arlington shave soap (scent and lather) so much that I also ordered the aftershave milk and splash. I'm not a big fan of the milk (consistency compared to say, Truefitt & Hill balms), but the splash is a nice compliment to the soap. This preshave however is VERY strongly scented, overwhelming even, and I don't feel it does nearly the job that many of my other preshaves do.

A Find for Shavers
Discovered this British "chemist" in Roger Ebert's autobiography about his trip to London. It is totally refreshing, wonderfully smelling, and not oily like The Art of Shaving pre-shave lotion.

AFTERSHAVE review
Had to post because it seems all of the reviews here are for the pre-shave, not the Aftershave product listed. This should also not be confused with the Aftershave Milk which is a different product. I purchased the Arlington Aftershave directly from D R Harris shop while traveling in London. I love the scent - it is fresh citrusy, woody, with just a touch of floral but, very masculine. I have also tried the Arlington cologne but prefer the scent of aftershave because the cologne is a bit more floral and less woody. My guess is that the aftershave has more alcohol and, perhaps, witch hazel? The aftershave has a nice tingle on freshly shaved skin but also spreads well and moisturizes. After using for several months, it works well for preventing inflammation and keeping skin healthy. The aftershave scent is subtle but and lasts several hours.

This aftershave is just ok, the scent fades withing 30 minutes..not a good choice on my part..
