Bye Bye Acana
My 10 year old golden retriever has loved all of your grain free & high protein food for eight years. You make top quality food that has kept him healthy for a long time.Unfortunately, in the last two years, with the enormous price increases - 25-30% higher since 2019 (undeniably a major inflation issue & a horrible economy due only to the current administration) - I can no longer afford you.We moved to 4health grain free from TSC. My boy loves it. It's a top quality product, comes in 30 lb bags, & is WAY less expensive than your product. Their non-foil packaging happens to be more environmentally conscious too. We're sad to part ways, but it's financially necessary.Bye Bye Acana

So far so good
One year old Boston dug right into this when it was put in her bowl. I hope it is a good choice. The vet recommended this brand and some others. I liked the choice of a 25 lb bag. I read a “do not feed” list that has about every kibble you can think of including this brand, so I am so confused as to what to trust. I hope that list is hype and not true.

Amazing
We are soooo happy we changed to this brand! Our 4 GSD love this food and they are looking and feeling great. Their coats are soft, full, and shiny. Our older dogs are getting around better and being more playful again. Their poop is looking better also, no diarrhea, mushy, stinky poops.

great food, my dog hates it though
its a great food with great value and my pitbull pups will clean their plates of this, however i bought this for my bichon poodle due to old age and the health/heart complications that come with it but she refuses to touch it unless i mix it in with her old food (kibbles n bits). not sure if its a flavor thing or what, but she has always been a picky dog. maybe i'll try the seafood or chicken blends next because she typically likes those. i just wish the smaller bags werent as expensive because the 4 lb bag was like $20 so i could properly try them out. i used a coupon and got this bag for 25% off at least.

It Might Be the Truth, Sort of
Okay. So I discovered this product contains what I refer to as "technical truth" - maybe.Normally, I feed my dogs Merrick with freeze dried raw chunks, or Taste of the Wild or Blue Buffalo, to which I add raw freeze dried meat toppers from Stella & Chewy.I like to switch things up for them, so I decided to give this Acana "Fresh or Raw" meat food. True, "or" does mean it could be either. However, I think a quality dog food company realizes its customers don't want to guess about what's in the food, or leave the ingredients up to what happens to be convenient. In any case, as far as I can tell, there was NO raw meat in this bag. At least not in any distinguishable form. All the pieces are the same size, shape and color. So, aside from its already premium price, I had to add freeze dried topper.Usually, when I give my dogs a new food, they go at it like they haven't eaten in days. Both their bowls are picked clean. And, normally, they will make sure their food lasts all day. Well, they went at it like that - at first. About a little less than half way through the bowls, though, they both stopped and walked away. Not a good sign.If it turns out that they like the food enough to keep eating it, I'll update this review. At the moment, I'm not encouraged and I will almost certainly go back to buying a food where I don't have to guess as to what's in it.
