keep fly away
These are effective at keeping flies away! We had put out some food on a recent camping trip and had flies trying to get to it. We set these up and turned them on, and there were no more flies near the food. Fly Fans for tables are innovative devices designed to repel flies and other insects while providing additional features for added convenience. Here are the key features of this portable fly fan:Fly Repellent Function: The primary purpose of the fly fan is to keep flies away from the area where it is placed, such as tables in outdoor or indoor settings like picnics or restaurants. The fan's airflow creates an unfavorable environment for flies, discouraging them from landing on food or people.Aroma Diffuser Function: In addition to repelling flies, the fan also serves as an aroma diffuser. It can disperse pleasant scents or essential oils, which not only add a nice ambiance but may also contribute to further insect repellent properties, depending on the scent used.Holographic Blade: The fan is equipped with a holographic blade, which can create a visual deterrent for flies. This holographic effect may help to keep flies away from the area even when the fan is not in motion.Portable and Adjustable: The fly fan is designed to be portable, making it easy to move and place on different tables or locations as needed. It likely has three adjustable height settings to suit various table heights and user preferences.Ideal for Outdoor and Indoor Use: The versatility of this fly fan makes it suitable for both outdoor and indoor environments. It can be used during picnics, outdoor dining, or inside restaurants to maintain a fly-free and comfortable space for customers.

Safe, easy, and somewhat effective
Summer in the south brings brutal horse and deer flies in unpleasant numbers. They bite exposed skin--but they can also bite just as hard THROUGH your clothing. NOT fun. I turned to these fans in desperation, as I hate chemical insect repellants as much as biting flies. Citronella is also out, as it's unhealthy to use around dogs. So with limited options, I put these into my Amazon cart.Surprisingly, they appear to deter flies. They didn't 100% solve the issue, but I feel that they are definitely helping to mitigate it--and in a safe, scent-free, and relatively unobtrusive manner. Assembly is a snap. I didn't need the instructions and had them up and running in no time. They twirl at a reasonable speed, but don't make much sound or push much air. They're totally safe, and extending a finger into one while it's going full speed results in minimal impact and zero injury. So far, battery life seems good--as they've been running for numerous hours with no slow down.We employ them standing up on a table, but handy hooks are provided on the bottoms if you'd prefer to hang them. You can also adjust the height of the units with a simple twist to lock or unlock. If you stand them up, handy trays beneath the blades make it very easy to add citronella or other repellant oil to the equation.Construction seems adequate, but $25.99 seems a little steep for 2 of these fans. That said, they have definitely improved the comfort of our back deck. If you're battling flies and seeking to avoid chemical solutions, they should provide you with some relief.

Works
These do keep the flies away! On a recent camping trip, we had put out some food and had flies trying to get to it. We set these up and turned them on and no more flies anywhere near the food. I have not yet been able to get the blades to be as high as they are in some videos and photos, but they still worked when just set near the food, rather than above it like is shown in some demos. I personally thought these were easy and intuitive to put together, but I agree that the directions weren't necessarily clear and helpful. They also feel very lightweight and "cheap," but I appreciate that for camping so we will see how well they hold up. Overall, this product does work mostly as advertised and is definitely going to be used this summer. If I can get the blades to stay higher and straighter then I may come back and upgrade to 5 stars.

Easy to use and fairly effective
Are those pesky flies annoying you and your guests to no end during your backyard barbeques? Do you have a screen door that just doesn’t do the job and allows those houseflies to pester you while eating at the kitchen table? Here’s an unusual and somewhat effective solution that may allow you to finally eat in peace during the summer months. This pair of fans sits on your table and the blade rotation covers your bowls, plates and dishes and chases away those little buggers. Each fan uses two (2) AA batteries (not included) and can telescope up to three different lengths up to just under 10 inches tall. The blades are covered with holographic strips which purport to send a danger signal to your uninvited flying friends to keep them at bay. I don’t know if there is any real scientific data to back up this claim but I have to say that we’ve been lunching and picnicking fly-free ever since we started using these.Don’t worry about the spinning blades as you reach for your food. These are designed to discourage bugs from sharing your food, not to clip off a finger or two from you or your dinner guests. These don’t hurt at all if you accidentally come in contact and they pose no real danger to you. They don’t actually spin very fast at all so, while the refracting blades might discombobulate the flies, they won’t have any dizzying effect on your or your guests. The enclosed instruction sheet is somewhat confusing. It might take a while to assemble these before you’re ready to use. But that might just be me. The main confusion is not being very clear about how to twist and open the telescopic pieces. Hint: turn each to the left to open and then to the right to lock. (They could have said it just that plainly.) Once you figure your way through these directions, you’ll have a pair of very useful and fairly effective bug detractors. I won’t guarantee that you’ll be 100% bug free but these will greatly reduce the number of uninvited guests at your next outdoor gathering. As you can see in one of my attached photos, one of the blades came completely encircled within itself. It took a few minutes to discern just how to safely unfold these blades without damaging but I figured it out safely. We have a couple of patio tables so I will be ordering a second pair of these. At the current price point (with an optional 20% Amazon coupon at the time of this review) you’re getting a good deal for a good chance to eat in peace.

Works good
They do exactly what there suppose to and make it easy to set up but the blades need to be flatten if there bent like how it was sent it makes it harder for it to work so just straighten out the blades. I do like that yo I can adjust the height as needed
