Product when it arrives is very heavy roughly 118lbs. Once opened all items are stored zipped up in the back of the headboard. Necessary tools were included not all screws needed to be used during assembly. One person is sufficient to assemble the bed frame. I did not time myself, but I'd say if you're focused it should only take an hour or less. The manual was pretty clear cut. The images were accurate, and it all made sense. If I had to nitpick the wings according to the manual are the last to be attached. This means the whole frame has to be moved and the headboard unzipped in the back to gain access to the holes the screws go through to connect the wings. I would have preferred to do that earlier when it was easier before full assembly, especially if space is a constraint. Other than that I am highly impressed with the quality, sturdiness (no squeaking or movement whatsoever), material, packaging, and overall look of the bed frame. My latex mattress feels very well supported. I've purchased from this brand before, and they seem to consistently produce great high quality products. I would like to also note that there's about a 7 and a half inch clearance under the bed frame for storage. I chose this one out of a list of options I researched on Amazon, and honestly all the others seem to pale in comparison now. It isn't cheap, and I see why, because it's worth it. And in all honesty it's better than some of the more expensive options you'll find at furniture stores and the like. Don't hesitate to buy. I did, bought it anyway, and do not regret it one bit. I am perfectly satisfied!

Purchased king size. It was extremely easy to put together - it only took an hour to do by myself. Once everything was tightened and ready for the mattress, the bed was super sturdy, without the slightest wiggle. Pros - Price! - Good quality for what you pay. - Ratcheting Allen Key!!! Omg, I would have purchased this just for the ratcheting Allen key, you changed my life. If you’re not feeling it, there’s also a regular Allen key. - The fabric is a nice sturdy material - I expect it to last a decent amount of time. - Nicely packed and organized. Cons: - The box was very heavy, as to be expected, but it would be very helpful to put some kind of handle cutouts for maneuvering into the house. My husband and oldest son had a hard time moving it in the house, but I did fine on my own without them when I unboxed and set it up. I think it was the awkward size that made it hard for them. The only thing I want to add, but was totally my fault - I almost missed the washers for the last four bolts to attach the side wings (?). I literally told my husband I needed to buy some, then saw them in the blister pack during cleanup. It was easy to fix, but don’t overlook them like I did. Overall, this was easy to build, is super sturdy, and looks great at an amazing price. Don’t miss this item!

I ordered this bed because of it's reviews. My cynical coworker said "They're just paid reviews. They do it all the time." While that may be true for some products, this review is real. I imagine many others are as well. I'm not a paid reviewer. I did not receive this bed for free. I gotta say...this bed is amazing. Absolutely amazing. It was so easy to put together I could have figured it out without any instructions at all. Even with the instructions, it's only like 9 steps from start to finish. I couldn't believe how sturdy it is. I just put the two crossed support bars together (no outside frame yet) and it was already solid as a rock. The pieces went together so easy. They even included a ratchet so you don't have to hand crank the (also included) allen wrench. Thanks to the ratchet, I didn't need to touch the allen wrench at all. Since all of the pieces are covered in fabric, there is no squeaking whatsoever. And the slats...oh my gosh I feel so stupid now. All these years I've put together my various beds and I never thought of the velcro. All the slats are tied together, so they stay bundled together and just unfold onto the bed. They all have velcro, so no screwing into wood to put them into place. This thing isn't just built well...it's an amazing design. When I move to another home, I can take it all apart and set it up somewhere else without any damage. Older beds I had to take out screws and drill new holes...not this one. I've never been so happy with a piece of furniture that came in a box. This thing is amazing. If I had to complain about something, it's a little low for me. But it's also my first platform bed. I'm used to the 8 inch box spring under my mattress, so my bed is a little lower than I'm used to. For anyone wondering if this would be okay for your bed in a box, yes, it is. I have a Helix mattress on this bed and it's perfect. Aside from being lower than I'm used to, I couldn't be happier with this bed. It's the best piece of post-assembled furniture I've ever purchased. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

I bought this bed frame for my parents. It is their first time getting a king size bed after having a queen all of their life, and they were just in awe! The bed is BEAUTIFUL. VERY sturdy, and even mentioned adult activities do hold up very well. No noise at all and they’ve had it about a month. The wings give the bed a very nice, classy touch. My parents said it makes them look luxurious. Definitely a great build and looks amazing for this good of a price. Everything comes in a rectangle box that took two people to carry into the bedroom for the king size, though you can honestly push it carefully through the floor on a flat house. The packaging is INCREDIBLE. All the pieces come in the headboard, including the metal base frame. One tip, when you are screwing in the frame, position each piece at the straightest angle you can, because at first the footboard tilted slightly forward until we noticed and fixed it! With two people, we set it up in about an hour, and the instructions are SUPER easy to follow, everything is labeled just, AMAZING. I would recommend this to any and everyone I know! I was hesitant about buying this "bed in a box" but there were so many positive reviews I decided to chance it. The box is incredibly heavy...I'm not sure how the Amazon delivery guy got it up to my second story apt alone. I could barely manage to slide the box into my apartment by myself. But once I got the box open, it was pretty easy to assemble...until I noticed that both the headboard and footboard were warped to the point that it was unusable. I contacted Zinus customer support - nothing for days. Luckily Amazon has fantastic customer support and I just requested a return and ordered a new one. Returning the whole box proved a challenge since I had to repack everything and had to wait all day for UPS to come pick up the box. The new bed arrived and everything was in great condition. I assembled the whole thing alone in about an hour and it's very sturdy. All in all...you are taking a chance by ordering a bed that comes shipped in a box...there are going to be inevitable dings and flaws in some shipments because, well...it's shipped in a box! But if you're willing to take that chance, the bed is great for the price.

I wish I had taken more pictures as I put it together-and maybe I’ll add more in awhile but here’s first impressions after just a few nights so far. I ordered the king size bed and mattress combo. I was incredibly impressed for the value of what you get for the price. Very good quality bed. I was impressed by the packaging as well. The bed frame came in a heavy box and the box was heavily damaged-so I was concerned. But as I began opening it-I saw it was double boxed and the inner box was in perfect condition. When I opened it-I got concerned again as I only saw the headboard and no hardware-but the packaging is genius. The entire frame was packed INTO the headboard and zipped up. Very ingenious. It only took my about an hour to put together by myself. The whole king bed. I was once again impressed it came with a ratchet to put everything together instead of your typical hex or Allen key. Made life so much easier. It does sit fairly low-which I wasn’t used to-so I did get some bed risers to raise it up a bit. I will say again-I’m really impressed. Really amazing quality bed frame and headboard for the price. 10/10 recommend-as far as my first impressions. The mattress-which I will also leave a separate review as well as include because it was a combo set-I’m equally impressed. For a bed in a box-it’s amazing. Nice and firm-but forms to your body in sleep. No disturbance from others since it’s a thick memory foam. Only took about 24 hours to fully expand from shipment-even though it spent about 12 hours in my garage in 38/40 degree temps. Overall I’m really impressed!

This bed came in one box, and I couldn't figure how it all fit. Turns out that the back of the headboard has a zippered compartment where almost everything folded and fit. Very shrewd design. As I pulled things out, I also wondered about the quality. Turns out that was mostly not an issue in the end. The assembly of the bed also showed shrewd design. It was much more solid than the frame my king bed had been on before. Everything was easy to unfold and assemble. I recommend oiling the screws before tightening them. I also recommend putting this bed on sliders once you get it assembled and before you put the mattress on, so you will be able to move it easily for cleaning. I was very impressed with the overall product in the end. Nice job Zinus. I only had a few relative negatives, which I will also forward to the manufacturer (and who invited comments.) The backing of the headboard, with a zippered compartment, probably should be made of stronger material. It seems like it could be punctured easily. Related to that is the fact that the headboard slides right up against the wall. If you have an outlet that you need to use in the area behind the headboard, you will need to purchase one of those extension cords that has a flat head that turns the wires sideways. Otherwise, I expect the backing will be punctured. The instructions are generally pretty good and easy to follow. The hardware is in a shrink-wrap package and the company gives you some extra pieces. The only time it got difficult was in attaching the side headboard struts to the main headboard, one of the last steps. The instructions somehow fail to tell you that you need to start the screws from holes drilled inside the side of the headboard, and you need to use washers that are provided with the other hardware. (The washers are the only pieces of hardware not numbered or lettered, and one needs a magnifying glass to see them in one of the drawings.) A minor inconvenience but one that could be easily corrected with better drawings and ID.

The engineer who created this easy and quick design of this bed...THANK YOU...however, what would have been nice - also i could have read the instructions fully before assembly - if the instruction for putting on the wings prior to building the entire bed first was noted. However it wasn't a super hassle, just would have been easier knowing not to push the bed back and then having to move it again for the wings. I LOVE the slats are Velcro-ed to the bed, no nails or screws needed. A plus for Amazon because my deliver brought this bed inside. I have only had it for less than 24 hours so not sure of the sturdiness but I will come back in a year to update with pictures. Also, You now have extra storage in your headboard for whatever. I'm hoping that this fabric will hold up for a while - 5 year minimum - but if it doesn't I don't mind buying another bed. *I forgot to get protection when I bought it* The price for a king is very reasonable considering its could be a one woman..or man..task. I would recommend this company due to the ease of assembly. Update 10/10/21 Bed still going strong. No issues. Fabric is holding up really well. Update 8/7/2022 Recently moved and had to break down the bed, make sure you hold on to the wrench it came with - I keep all my tools. This was the easiest bed to break down and assemble. Didn’t even need the instructions to rebuild it. Also, wings are optional. I had to remove them for second build for the large stands to fit next to it. Best part was that all the equipment stored in the headboard so very easy move.

This is my second Zinus bed. Cannot go wrong for the price. They are pretty solid and easy to assemble. Bought our first in 2019 for master bedroom and is still in perfect condition. This one is for daughter’s room. Her mattress is 16” so not as much of the headboard shows with the multiple pillows but is still beautiful in the room. Would totally recommend this bed.

This bed is awesome! I'm a weirdo who actually likes making Ikea furniture but this bed was by far the easiest thing I have ever assembled. The ratchet it comes with is a game changer and the design of the bed is ingenious. I was able to make the king sized bed myself in about an hour and a half. I did have to take the pieces out of the headboard to take them upstairs because as mentioned it is quite heavy. Once the mattress was on the bed is so sturdy. No squeaking or movement at all. I love this bed and at this price point you cant go wrong.

Fantastic Value and Comfort We originally bought 2 for our cottage and were so blown away by the value comfort and design that we bought another 2 and my Mother wanted one as well. We are up to 5 of these bed frames. They are packed so well and so easy to put together. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a bed solution and I would go one step forward and say anything you buy from this company you will be very satisfied with your purchase. The attention to detail in all aspects from transport to assembly and then the look and overall comfort are just outstanding.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive bed frame this is pretty much as good as it gets. I recently upgraded from a Queen to a King sized mattress. Our old queen bed and frame went into the guest bedroom. It was a dark grey tuffed wingback frame with a tall headboard and I was looking or hoping for something similar but on a budget this time. The Zinus Frame arrived quickly and to my surprise in one (relatively) small box given the size of the frame. When I opened the box I was really impressed by the smart packaging. All the pieces actually fit into the back of the headboard in a zippered compartment. Good if you find yourself moving. After set up I liked the frame but the real test was when we put the mattress on. we got a pillow top mattress and I felt like it took over in height too much of the headboard as well as the overall height of the bed. I am 5’5” so I’m not short but I felt like more of a leap to get on the bed than I was used to. This frame does not require a box spring and we did not use one but the mattress still managed to take over the entire frame. The mattress seemed a bit wider than the frame opening itself. Overall, you get what you pay for. The quality is average, I still received compliments for the two days I had it set up but in the end I decided to return and look for something that fit my mattress better and had a higher headboard. I did like the colour, material and the fact that the footboard of the bed was visible. The legs were cheap plastic screw in ones but you could easily find alternatives to work with the bed. For the price I would recommend it as an alternative to a metal frame for a little more style and sturdiness.

Been using a little over a month, easy assembly, great quality, very sturdy, lots of support. Using with 8" pocket coil+memory foam mattress. Very comfortable. Exceeded expectations! Item is quite heavy and took two of us to move. The headboard is zippered and framed at the back and all pieces are contained. Great quality materials and stitching. The zippered back had all materials organised and packed in order allowing super easy assembly! (15min) Plus if we need to move or store in future it would take up little to no space being able to store all pieces in back, also a great place to hide Christmas gift from kids!
