great for the money, you must use a 1/2 psi pressure valve!
Installed at our patio shower next to the swim spa to enjoy the mandatory hot water shower before getting in. Safe and cost efficient. After presetting the season, the flames size, and the water volume, you just handle the shower valve on and off. It seems to be a pretty good quality water heater, BUT the installation instructions are poor. For safety and easy use the control system is sensitive to both water and gas pressure. Now, to avoid most of the issues mentioned on the low rated reviews you will first need to use only a low pressure gas valve rated for 1/2 psi ($20 in Amazon), and second you must install a water valve between the heater and the shower head. If you do not do this, it will not turn on. Other than that, the batteries # 1 is size D in the US, and the PVC fittings for the water inlet and outlet, plus a metal adapter for the gas pressure valve and a shower head with built-in valve can be all bought at the hardware store for $30.

waste of money
This item was received incomplete missing parts with obscure instructions. l intended to use the portable water heater in my cold water country cabin but it doesn't appear to work at all. Unfortunately l didn't open the package until my present visit to my remote cabin so l am not sure if l have any recourse with the seller but l wanted to post this review for others thinking of purchasing this particular product. Better to spend a little more money and get something of more quality.

Instructions?
The instructions that come with it tell you NOTHING there are parts I have no idea where they go or what they do. They do not tell you what fittings you need to hold up to the propane tank. You WILL need to purchase a pump or have some water pressure OTHER than gravity. Once you figure out how to attach the propane and the water supply it does work and very well.

Better than Eccotemp???
I've owned and used the Eccotemp L5 for years. We chose this one because it looks very similar in hook-up and operation, but it has a temperature screen and an extra control for summer/winter. We have now used it a few times and the temperature of the water is MUUUUUCH more consistent throughout the shower. The canvas cover I made for the Eccotemp fits perfectly on this unit. The only negative on this unit is that it came with a shorter hose for the shower head than we can use in our set up... but that's ok, the hose from the old unit is still just fine! I really really like the temperature controls on this unit.Other things to know: You will need teflon tape (did not come in the box) and possibly some adapters if you are planning to hook up a water hose (that's how we do it). So don't order this and plan to have a shower in five minutes... take your time and plan a trip to the hardware store.Things I do to take care of our outdoor unit: I made a canvas cover so that dirt and debris do not fall into the unit when it is not in use. I also attach an RV water filter to the incoming water to limit the build up from our well water.

More to it that meets the eye
Thís unit will require you to get a couple of parts to make it work. Namely, an adapter to connect the propane and a garden hose adapter if that is what your water source is. The shower hose/wand is worthless i used one that was on my old heater that failed after a couple years and has a shut off on it. If i didn't already have these items i would never have purchased this heater as the extra cost of necessary parts would have made other units a better buy. Initially my unit worked fine but after turning up the temp and water flow it only reached about 27c or 80 f, not exactly a hot shower but better than cold water.

Amazingly good for the price
We have been using Instahot for years, and they always had to be replaced in a few years at great expense. Tech support is worthless at that company. This TC-home unit is more or less the same at 1/3rd the price. I do not see any difference.

I like it
It should do fine for the job it’s made for

Not even functional
There's no connections for a propane tank or a water hose. I am really disappointed. If you want a plug and play unit this ain't it.
