I bought this set to go along with my Kelly Kettle to save having to use matches or a lighter when out in the wild. It takes a little practice to use the Flint and steel but the hemp rope and bellows works really well as kindling and should last me a while. I might stock up on spare rope. Nice to have for an extended power cut or survival situation and I really like the tin it comes in. I've not used the other tools yet but they feel solid.

Gifted this to my friend's 8 year old son, who is obsessed with fire (with permission of the parents). He never cared if I existed before, and was always on the fence about whether or not I was interesting enough to be friends with his mom. After this as a Christmas present for 2023 I became the coolest person ever. It has been over 9 months since he received it, and he still uses it every day. On Christmas morning, he was shown how to use it, and his dad set the couch on fire (after the child was explicitly told it was an outside tool only LOL). Still works perfectly. Easy enough for a child to use. Cannot recommend enough if you need to bribe a fire obsessed child to win cool points.

I’ve bought these before and they’re awesome. This time when I bought it again Amazon did what Amazon does and packed it in a huge box with an axe and nothing to protect it at all so it arrived totally smashed. The tin is completely useless now as it doesn’t close at all. If you decide to buy this ferro rod make sure that you don’t order anything other than pillows at the same time because it will likely get destroyed during shipping.

Delivery in one day, fire within 5 mins of opening the kit. The rope tinder works really well and the case can hold some other "waterproof" tinder should you need it. I am super happy with it.

These fire steels (fero rods) are as good as any I have used. And I have used many…The scraper has a nice burr on the bottom that scrapes a nice shower of Sparks onto your tinder.The tinder wick supplied is also excellent. No complaints at all.If you can’t start a fire with this little kit, the problem is not the kit.
