Just ok
The book kept my attention, wound up reading most of it in one day. But as it started to draw to an end it was kind of just... disappointing and it felt like it was dragging on and the writer was trying to find a way to end it. Very anticlimactic

I had higher expectations
The book is OK. It starts out great…builds on a realistic and adventurous premise…but unfortunately quickly drops into the same old love triangle trope that you find in so many books these days. Generic South American villain, strong but flighty woman, strong, young and slightly immature man. Wealth lures the lady, Man jealous…villain gets his comeuppance in the end and everyone is happy…you know the routine. Then the “tribe”…puleeze. independent cruisers who agree to follow the tribe’s rules…but of course these rules are almost supernaturally enforced…… anyway….Expected more, but in the end it was ok.

absolutely loved it!
What a wild a beautiful read. I came across this book by accident and decided to give it a go. Am so glad I did Emma Bamford’snovel captured my heart and drew me in from the very beginning. The characters were incredibly brilliant, the description of island life incredible and the intrigue behind the story captivating and mysterious. This author is one to watch, and I can’t wait for her next book. Five star bravo *****

Deep Water
This book was a great read and I liked the detailed descriptions of the island and characters. I want to know more and feel there could be a sequel I hope!!!! I felt this book took me far away to an island where you have to do everything yourself and rely on others for help. Enjoyed reading this book!

Awesome!
Great story line. Could guess some things that might happen, but always surprised. Made you route for the good guys.

If you loved the Ruins...
This book, excluding the ending which I found a bit hackneyed and Hollywoodish, is fantastic noir fiction.

No thanks
Felt like a waste of time. Virginie was terribly annoying. Don’t know what was worse - the fact that Jake couldn’t swim or that the author needed to explain (twice) that calling someone “baby” was a term of endearment.

A new wonderful author!
I could not put this book down ! So interesting, so alive ! I did not want to part with the narrator of the story, a captain of the boat with a heart of gold….
