I got this for my girlfriend and this what she had to say. This charcoal serum works well for me at night time after I remove all my makeup and need some extra attention on any oily areas. I didn’t like the way it leaves a grey film on your skin so I only use it at bedtime only. I would recommend it for anyone experiencing breakouts, as it helps keep the skin dry.

I'm obsessed with the texture of this serum-- it feels like a super lightweight oil, but doesn't act oily on my skin. I was concerned that the charcoal would be visible, but once everything sinks in, you would never know that the serum is black. Even after a single use, my skin was visibly calmed and hydrated. I've been using this for a week in the evenings and the texture of my skin has subtly improved (the before and after in the listing is ridiculous-- it doesn't do that, but it DOES help even texture). I'm 57 and at the end of the summer, I'm seeing some areas where my sunscreen clearly wasn't doing its job this year. This serum helps calm those areas and improve the texture of skin all over my face. It has a gently, clean smell that did not affect the way the serum felt at all-- no burning or stinging due to the fragrance at all. I wasn't sure what to expect with this product, but after a solid week of use, I have nothing but good things to say about it. The price is appropriate and I will buy this again.

The advertised product is not 100% accurate. This was advertised as something that is alcohol free. Upon looking at the ingredients list, alcohol denat was listed as an ingredient. Due to this, I am unable to trust this brand and all that it claims.Another issue I had was that it suggested to use this product twice a day (in the AM and in the PM). It has both AHA and BHA in it which makes the skin sensitive to UV rays. So I would highly recommend you to NOT use it in the AM and only use it at night. Make sure you use sunscreen in the AM with this product.As for the product, it does have a very minimal charcoal smell (last ingredient). No other scents and no added scents, which is nice. It applies very smoothly and leaves the face slightly tacky for a few minutes. It is slightly drying, so I always follow-up with a good moisturizer and face oil.It is overall a very gentle exfoliant that I wouldn't mind using every night. It doesn't flare up my rosacea nor does it cause any redness at all. A little sad that it does have alcohol in it when another ingredient could've been used to help with the viscosity, absorption, and preservation. I have noticed my skin looks and feels smoother. It also looks more radiant/glowy.Despite it being a good product, I'm not too sure if I'd purchase this once I'm out due to its false claims.

A couple of us in this household like to use a charcoal serum, so we’ve tried quite a few. This one seems to work as well as any for my son, in particular, but it’s not as pleasant to use. Charcoal serums seem to be the key to keeping him nearly blemish free. This one, however, is a bit thicker than most and seems to linger on the skin longer. I am fairer and don’t have the facial hair that he does (however patchy), so it’s even more noticeable on me that some of the charcoal is sitting on my skin. It ends up a bit more like trying to rub in sunscreen that leaves a white cast. You have to keep looking to make sure you got it all. The smell is earthy, sort of herbal. Maybe like grass with all the dirt and everything. Other than needing to rub it in a bit more, it seems to work as well as any. It does claim to be alcohol free, which it technically is since “alcohol” only refers to ethyl alcohol for cosmetics labeling, but it does contain denatured alcohol. Still, it does not seem drying. We’ll definitely use this up. I just don’t see reordering this for him. But, I do think this might be a better choice for someone that wants to combine a moisturizing serum with a charcoal serum. This does seem more hydrating than others that we’ve tried. Honestly, I’m torn between 3.5 stars and 4 because of the higher cost for this one.

I recently gave The Ceel Charcoal Face Serum a try, hoping it would help with my stubborn blemishes and acne-prone skin. Unfortunately, it didn't quite do the trick, so I gave it a two-star rating. The serum boasts a blend of salicylic acid, niacinamide, AHA, BHA, and charcoal powder, which sounded like a potent mix for resurfacing and moisturizing. However, I was disappointed to find that it didn't seem to make much of an impact on my skin's blemishes, and it didn't seem to make my skin any smoother. On top of that, the serum was a bit sticky, which made it uncomfortable to wear all day. I know skincare is subjective, but I was really hoping this one would work out for me, and it just didn't deliver the results I was looking for in a face serum.

A facial serum with an interesting concept. This one contains charcoal. Sounds odd, but so far, works well to help ensure that I have an extra layer of cleanliness on my skin to help fight bacteria and germs. Having mature combination skin, I'm still having to be extra careful about what I apply to my skin so that I'm not clogging pores or allowing my skin to become extra oily. This offers some moisturization while also leaving a liquid layer of charcoal on the skin to help keep the skin safe and clean.This black liquid goes on as a black; or actually very dark charcoal; substance, but immediately turns clear once you massage this across your face. It does not stain your skin, nor tint it in any way at all. You get full conditioning that helps to soften lines and provides you with a bit of moisturization without leaving the skin with unwanted residuals. It will be slightly tacky for a bit, but once you apply your moisture cream, that will go away.Works well with other skincare products and is easy to wear under makeup. A good serum for all skin types and is especially good for those with problematic skin. Suitable for all adult age groups and is just as good for men as it is for women.
