Perfect Catch Up
I tried watching series 1 of this when it was first on but was totally put off by the main character Tony - here was a very intelligent and very good looking young man - which in itself is enough to make an ugly joe like me dislike him but on top of that he was smarmy and machiavellian in the extreme - the thought that this was to be the poster boy for a generation left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. So I stopped watching. Then I found out series 3 was to be a new set of characters (a good thing if you ask me - teen dramas always go off the rails when the cast move to university) - Skins had been critically acclaimed so I decided to have another look - the first episode was a bit daft but it had a certain charm, I stuck with it and fell in love - suddenly the week between episodes seemed far too long (something that hasn't happened with me and a TV show since I was a kid).As soon as series 3 finished I ordered this boxset (I never saw the point of boxsets of a series that was still running - you buy the box of series 1-4 and then the next year the box of series 1-5 comes out but with the new cast this made perfect sense). It's brilliant. You soon realise that Tony isn't necessarily the hero of the piece and isn't always liked by his friends, and it gradually becomes more ensemble with the other characters coming into their own.So if you're a newcomer like me buy this now!

Hard Hitting Drama
Wow.Having never seen Skins on television before, but being told by my friends how great it was, I just had to buy this box set. I watched all the episodes of both series over about 3 days (sad, I know). In other reviews where people have said that it is an emotional roller-coaster, they are definitely not wrong. I would go as far as to warn people that this is an incredibly hard hitting series that raises some seriously important issues. I have never been so affected by a fictional TV series before in my life, its just not something I usually do, but with skins - it just sucks you in. Why? Because it IS real life. That's why.The cast are just amazing, I struggle to think how people of my age are playing such important roles, but but they do it so well. And it is all so convincing - you become part of the group just watching it. Well done guys.It can leave you laughing, crying, cringing and any other emotion you care to think about. Be warned, it is addictive to watch - and it left me somewhat 'depressed' with a totally new perspective on life.I know this all makes me sound really sad, but as I said - I am NEVER usually affected by TV programmes, because they are fictional. But this is so close to real life that it's impossible not to be affected. Please please don't let me put you off buying it, it is amazing. Just prepare yourself.

Best Series Ever from Britain (but only the first 2 seasons!)
I really liked the storyline and the characters of this series, especially the stunning performance of Hannay Murray as Cassie. Until i realized her there, it was just a nice series, but after her, it has become an addiction for me. The scripts are well-written in almost every episode and the music is great. Some episodes on DVD have different music tracks than the ones aired on TV (ex: Season2 Episode 9). That's the only thing i didn't like about this nice dvd set. I can understand if it was a 'law issue' but if wasn't, I surely can't. TV version was surely better in that manner.DVD set has nice extras like the missing scenes and interviews. In addition, it has Radiohead(!) music at the background in menus. This might give you some idea for the quality.I can recommend this item for anyone who enjoys good acting and smart writing. This might easily be the 'Friends' of England if they didn't change the cast completely after season 2. Still having hard time to believe it.

REGION CODES?!
This product would've been fantastic..if i knew anything about region codes..I looked at purchasing series 1 in the US but i guess they cut out the last scene do to copyright infringement? and i was like hell nah so i decided to check it out in the UK. I was so pleased to see that they had series 1 AND 2 for less than just 1 in the US and nothing but good reviews. ..so i ordered it, and i received it about a week later. However, when i tried to play it in my dvd player..i couldn't simply because i knew nothing about region codes. So, just keep that in mind everyone. It's not the products fault or anything..obviously. cause its mine for being foolish. BUT C'MON THAT'S SO DISAPPOINTING!!but it works on my computer so it's still worth it.

True life in a box!!!
I come from South Africa and skins isnt that well known until recently! This intense, emotional, exciting and life changing series depicts teenagers who are so lost with all the true things in life such as love, normality, sexuality, religion, acceptance, family, friendship etc! Each one of them go through their own unique journey and it opens your eyes to whats capabable of happening not just in England but in the whole world! This series is a must have for anyone who wants the plain, and simple hardcore truth. There is a bit of langauge issues and sex scenes that could bother sensitive viewers but i personally couldnt care less because i love it in every way imaginable!Love all of you skin actors and actresses you rock!!!!Writers and producers thanks a million!

A show made by brave people
Never crossed my mind that there was this kind of shows somewhere in the world. Here (Mexico) the goverment don't let to this kind of things to be broadcasted under the foolish excuse to be "inmoral", "inadecuate" and therefore "ilegal" if there hasn't be edited in order to be suitable for the sanctimonious people. And this model lies in the audience of the "open" TV. Even for the ones (including me) that have access to the restricted TV found some censorship here and there, and we think it'd be the same in other countries.Fortunately I was wrong. Skins speaks about the adolescence openly, making feel yourself so alike to the caracters, with their troubles and doubts. That's a good show.
