I recommend they be treated gently.
We have 2 sets of the original 4 piece i-mats, both approximately 2 years old. Returned this one only because they are now 9 piece. Personal preference. Although larger to store, less pieces to put away. The 4 piece sets did come with their own storage bags, whereas the 9 piece do not. Assuming nothing else has changed, the mats have remained basically functional to date. The set which has seen more use, has a few areas that may or may not respond at any given time (inconsistent triggering). The foam material shows definite signs of surface wear and tear.The surface pictures are fading, and the surface material is beginning to break down with wear-through-the-surface. I recommend they be treated gently. Not to be used as an everyday play mat. We have enjoyed the features but future longevity with frequent use is definitely in question.

We are in love with this mat
The media could not be loaded. We are in love with this mat. Haven't ordered the pen yet and wish it stated in the description that it doesn't come with one. Map is colorful, baby enjoys looking at the objects.

Its interactive!!!
This mat was perfect for our baby. We bought 3 other different ones, 4 mats all together for the price of one!!! Do you know it comes with an interactive pen (sold separately)??? I am amazed how the pen knows exactly what you're tapping and can say all the contents on the mat in English Spanish and Mandarin!!!!! Not only is my baby learning, so am I!!! AWESOME FIND LOVE THIS PRODUCT :)

Mix of learning and fun
Love that it can be taken apart and put away. It soon even loves to stack it to practice stepping up and down. Love that it exposed him to world geography. Sometimes he points to various animals depicted and I tell him what it is.

Quality is questionable
Love this mat’s design (except for the light skinned safari tourist in Southern Africa, as someone here pointed out), but it started to wear out within a month of using it. There are white dashed lines that have appeared across large swathes, and the corner links are all wearing out too.

Great quality, bright colors, very cute
I saw a previous review that stated there isn't a single black person represented on this map, not even in Africa (which they have a white person in South Africa), yet they even have Eskimos represented... The mat is great quality but that lack of representation really is a shame.
