Best monotasking tool I own
This little light has earned its pay. It has two emissive areas, a good magnet and a good clip. Light it provides is illuminating and not glaring. I use both illumination zones often in my work. My only complaint is that the button is on the opposite side to traditional flashlights, and I've accidentally turned it on directly into my eye a few times. But that's just operator error. :P

A Great Little Light
Coast makes a great flashlight and I've had them for and at home for years. This is my first pen light with a magnetic end and a small light panel. I've used it only a few times but so far I'm impressed. It doesn't put out a lot of light and I do not recommend this one if you're out walking around at night. It only lights up a small area in front of you.On first impression, the light is lightweight and made of hard plastic. But it is made well. It feels good. It’s a bit weird at first holding this light. It's not a standard shape light. It reminds me of a carpenter's pencil. On the back, you will find a clip to put in a shirt or tool pocket. At the other end you will find green LED status lights that light up when charging or in use. At the very of the light, you will find a rubber cover that has the USB-C port.On the same end as the port you will find the penlight and it's great for lighting up small areas. When you flip the light over you will find the power button and the flood light. Click the button and it turns on the penlight. Click again the penlight turns off the flood turns on. Click it again the flood gets brighter. One more and it turns off. The flood light is bright and works great in a small workspace. If you are under the hood of your car it might help light it enough to work on it in an emergency. The charger is fast and it holds a charge for a while. I had it running for about an hour as I did various projects and it still shows a full charge and the light got warm to the touch.I used the light to light up my laptop as I changed out the RAM. It worked great. I will be adding it to my gear bag.

After 8 months the power switch is inconsistent
I have been a big fan of Coast products and have recommended them to others for years. This flashlight is the lone exception to all the other great Coast lights and knives that I’ve used. I never really fell in love with it from day one but now the push button power switch has become nearly impossible to use. I have to push it again and again and at different angles in attempting to get it to work. Sometimes I just give up after 20 seconds of trying but usually if I stick with it for long enough I do eventually get it to work.I used to carry this light-weight light in my pocket all day. But after a few episodes of frustration, I finally gave up and now carry this little KL20R instead. This is one Coast product I can not recommend. this little KL20R instead.

Some things to be liked...and some things not.
This rechargeable penlight puts out a powerful beam of 185 lumens. That is very good. It also has a side light and a magnetic end-cap (pink). It is a strong magnet. That is so the penlight can be stuck to a metallic surface with the side light on and there is no need to hold the light while work goes on (under the hood of an automobile, for instance). That is very good for some people, but not so much for me. I don't like the side light glaring in my eyes and in any case, I have little work that needs doing after dark. But of course I don't need to use the side light if I don't want to. One thing I do like is that it is rechargeable and the charge cord comes with it. There is an open-able flap covering the charging access. Just above the charge cover are four tiny windows in a row; if you turn the flashlight on they will shine brilliant green. All four means the light is fully charged; two it is only half. If only the lower light is on it is time to charge the light. I like this function very much. Then, there is something I don't like at all. The on-off switch is a disaster. It needs to be pushed inward to turn it on/off. Problem is, you need powerful fingers to do that, which I don't have and this switch controls the side light as well. Often, I have to use the end of a tool to accomplish that. Otherwise this light is magnificent! Sadly, if I can't turn it on, not so much. Possibly men won't have as much trouble with this as I do.EDIT: I have discovered that using my fingernail on the south end of the on-off switch causes it to turn off-on fairly easily. Therefore I have restored one star--not both, as I still think they did a lousy job with the switch.

Lightweight and convenient with spotlight or floodlight options, magnetic positioning, and rules
This is very handy tool with some great features. I can choose between either the spotlight that travels a good distance and the floodlight with 2 brightness levels for detailed or close-up work. The COB (Chip-on-Board) LED side light is a continuous light source that produces a uniform and very bright beam of light. One click of the power button turns on the bulls-eye spotlight which shines from the end. Two-clicks of the power button is the floodlight which shines from the side. A third click will change the side light intensity to be brighter. This pen light is very lightweight and measures 6 1/4" x 3/4" x 1/2" so it fits nicely in my pocket. I particularly like the magnetic base as I can position it on metal and work hands-free with the floodlight. There are rule etchings (both in inches and millimeters) length-wise so you don't have to reach for a measuring tape to determine the size of short items or gaps.
