Long lasting and very good smell.

When I got the amazon package I could smell the cologne scent right when I cut open the box so I thought the smell would be overpowering once I opened the product. Not so. I got these to use in my closet under the staircase. We put about 15 pairs of shoes and some jackets, baseball and tennis equipment in this closet. I tested it only using one pair (because of the initial strong cologne scent) and opened halfway for the first 10 days. I think it helped to neutralize some of the odors but I noticed it started smelling stale again when I I opened the door. I opened up the deodorizing balls to the max capacity and felt like it worked again for another 10 days. I do think it helps to neutralize the odor. Other things I have tried are baking soda box (fridge n freezer), cleansing oils diffused on clay, charcoal air absorber box. I think this works a bit better but only for short term. It has been 28 days. Closet odor is not overpowering when I open the door. I don’t smell the cologne scent unless I hold the ball close to my nose now. It won’t get rid of all the sweaty foot odor because shoes are constantly being worn but it helps to manage the staleness. This can get pricy if you have to keep replacing the balls every month.

I have multiple pairs of volleyball shoes and I have a few deodorizer that I have. I just felt like I needed something a little more convenient of just throwing it in there. These did the job. I threw them in my shoes and it does not stink like a skunk. It smelt pleasantly nice as it described. Good purchase.

As far as sneaker balls in general are concerned, I've used them in boxing gloves, sneakers, hampers, cars, etc., but never found them to be very effective at managing moderate to heavier odors, especially when athletic clothing, shoes and other gear are involved that absorb heavy sweating. These sneaker balls are really no better or worse than other balls that I've tried in that regard. These twist to open to reveal a pleasant citrus fragrance. When not in use, you twist again to close the air holes on the balls to help extend the useful life of the deodorizer. I've found these to be better for using as deodorizers in cars, gym bags and other applications where superficial odor control is sufficient, but didn't find these or any other types of sneaker balls for that matter to be very effective in managing heavier odors with my running shoes and other athletic apparel and gear that gets heavy use.

I'm an avid pickleball player and will often play 4 - 6 hours a day. We live in a hot, humid area so that means a lot of sweating. It's to the point where I need to rotate pairs of shoes to allow time for them to dry between use. It also means that my shoes stink - my wife won't allow them inside the house. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with this situation. I played college basketball and had my share of sweaty, stinky shoes before. I used shoe deodorizers then, so when I saw these I knew I needed to get them. I opted for the orange balls hoping their smell would help tame my own. They do help. It would be better if I'd started using them from the beginning of the life of my shoes, but it does help neutralize the odor somewhat. You're able to control how much or how little you need the help by simply twisting the two halves of the balls to open the airways a lot or a little. They're easy to use - simply toss them in your shoes and even put one or two in your bag to help tame odors. The packaging says they last up to 30 days, but in my previous experience they've lasted longer than that.

Nice scent but doesn’t really deodorize

They make a significant difference! My fiancé's work boots are intolerable so I wasn't expecting a miracle. I will say, after using these I was very surprised at how much of a difference they made. They are definitely worth the purchase.

OK, that's kinda an overstatement but not at the same time.They have saved my olfactory senses from my son's soccer cleats and that is saying something.Those shoes could kill a skunk, bring it back to life and kill it again...He's only used one pair of balls so far and they are lasting like a champ.Much cheaper than the box store equivalent, and I've never smelled citrus shoe balls before. But I wonder if that has anything to do with its outdoor killing properties.
