Good Introduction but dislike suggested Asanas
I really liked the holistic nature of this book, not looking at just Asana practice as so many Western authors do, but devoting a lot of space to the wider aspects of yoga teaching which I believe is very helpful for everyone. However I was seriously concerned about the asana section and safety, if this book is picked up by anyone over 60, just beginning a yoga practice at home. There was a comment on forward bend, to bend from the waist…I see heaps of lower back pain resulting. Sarvangasana or shoulder stand is included. Cervical spine degeneration and osteoporosis is common in this age group. If you pick up this book and start a home practice please, please do not do this posture without a good teacher next to you and definitely not in the way described. If you ignore the asana practice though and want a good introduction to Yogic Philosophy it is a very interesting and well written text, from one who has a very good understanding of this in daily life.

honestly, I have read through this book a couple ...
honestly, I have read through this book a couple of times since I got it last year, but have yet to do any yoga with it. I guess that is more my fault than the book's. you have to read through each description and instruction for each exercise to find at the end an admonition not to do it if you have a sore back, etc. I was hoping a book would be easier to follow than a CD, to go at my own pace, but I guess if you're not motivated, you're not going to do it.

I would rather try stretches than medications or eliminating anything that makes me feel less comfortable.
I think I need another copy for my primary home. Yoga helps with the miserable aches that occur unprovoked. I would rather try stretches than medications or eliminating anything that makes me feel less comfortable.

The book was well researched and is presented in a easy to follow form. I have been doing the yoga for several weeks and really enjoy it.

misleading
I ordered this book thinking it would offer alternative stretches and poses for people over 60. if you're over 60 and have been practicing yoga, this book is not helpful. If you're a beginner over 60 and expect to get help starting yoga practice, this book is not helpful. The line drawings use an over-60 silhouette; is that why they targeted it for an over 60 reader? The title is misleading. I wasted my money. There are so many better books for seniors out there: Suza Francina's Yoga for People Over 50 is a good place to start.

An enjoyed gift
Nice book, was a requested book from my nan and she has told me that she's enjoying it. I've marked it as 4 stars, only for the reason of it being a gift and it came with a huge barcode sticker right in the middle of the cover of the book. This was very difficult to remove and left a lot of residue on the cover(not how you want a gift to look, sticky and grey).

Not quite what i was looking for
I was expecting more modifications for poses and prop suggestions, but for me the book was a basic yoga manual
